Maybe some will view this as an unnecessary post. Be that as it may...

Back at the beginning of this year I put it out there that I wanted to hunt lion (yes, CBL) next year. A fair number of sponsors here reached out with what they could do for me, and made a number of really good offers. I was in the process of whittling it down to my short list, and hoping to make a decision by summer.

Well, the best laid plans...

I went through a divorce over the second half of this year. It was as amicable as a divorce can be - we are still friends. But the long and the short of it is that I owe her for quite a few things, and my financial situation is not such that I can pay for a house and other items and a lion hunt in the same year.

Again, why post about this? I get that outfitters are just doing what they do they do to make their business work, but when I consider the amount of time that some of them put into trying to get me to choose them, and then they hear nothing back from me? That just didn't sit right with me. So I am being lazy. Rather than trying to go back and find every single person that responded, I am going to put it on here: thank you to everyone who reached out. And thank you to the many AH members who sent personal messages with their thoughts and suggestions. I am very, very grateful for this site, its people, and all that it offers. To the outfitters who messaged me trying to help me make it happen: not trying to ghost anyone; I just got hit with something I wasn't planning on.

I get that in not being able to do this in 2025, perhaps I will miss my chance, because the future for lions (CBL) is getting sketchy. I will cross my fingers and hope their is a path forward somewhere down the line.

Oh, and this is simply meant as a "thank you"/update message. Please don't turn this into another merits of versus evils of CBL thread. Thank you.

Terry

Very well said Terry, you have spoken for I would venture a lot of us on this site. The outfitters have always answered any and all questions and I regret I haven’t been able to book with all whom have replied so graciously.

Keep the faith brother and pinch a few more pennies and make it happen.

Sorry to hear about the divorce but at least you can be in the same room together.
Ph’s have to put up with a lot and that’s before we ever get there! So they are certainly deserving of a Thank You! Best wishes moving forward-

It was a good thing. We both want very different things. Frankly, I am jealous of some of you fellers, who have wives who hunt with you. Please feel free to forward prospective names to my inbox, if you know of single women who need a hunting partner.

Seriously, I am super grateful for the AH members that share their experiences, and the outfitters who try hard to help make our dreams happen. My two trips could not have happened without this site.

Very sorry to hear this TT. I hope a lion hunt works out for you in the future.

Sad to hear about you divorcing your wife (after many years I assume?), but if it is going amicably, at least there shouldn't be too grave repercussions. And you are still a young man after all! ;)

Good luck with the search for your lion hunt!

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
