we are having a bit of a clear out and my grandfather was in the indian army before independance and had lots of the different regiments coats of arms on wooden shields. i found this one and things havent changed too much it seems if you read the motto...

Pretty neat piece of family history you have there Mike.

Every time I see/hear something related to the Anglo/Afghan wars, I recall the last stanza of Kipling's "Young British Soldier":

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.

Lets you know how bad it could be sometimes.

Thanks for sharing.

when you look through them you never realised how many different regiments there were with some great sounding names. i will go and look through them and put some others on. some have been lost as i can remember a lot more of the shields when i was small in their cottage over in the uk than there are now.

How little it has changed "Kabul to Kandahar"..... my first tour with parts of my regiment 2002 in Kabul, second tour for me 2006 Kandahar. Makes you wonder....

Really neat heirlooms!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.

Have twice tried to post something that your site canned as "SPAM" or some problem.. "Contact the Administrator"... Not sure why even the "Contact" button would not send my comment so you only received my query but not the content in question. I'll see if I can get it to you this way... NOPE I use a VPN and perhaps that is causing me grief...
