If you have hunted with Jacques @AAA Africa Serapa Safaris in the past or read reports of those who have, you have probably heard about Bullet, Jacques' JRT. I am a dog guy, frequently feeling closer to dogs more so than many people. So it is with Bullet. I've not had a great deal of time around this little package overstuffed with courage. He has helped on a couple of not so perfectly hit animals and generally speaking been much fun to be around.

Earlier this week Bullet learned that it's the dead ones that get you when a "dead" Blesbok nearly got the best of him and put a horn in him about 6 inches deep. Fortunately I say nearly as somehow the horn missed hitting/puncturing anything vital. He will be down a few months but is expected to survive.

So a salute to our four legged friends who's share our passion for hunting.

Get well soon, little man! That's one nasty looking wound.

Ouch! Those JR are tough little critters. Glad that he'll get a chance to go back to hunt again. Tell Jacques that when he feels a little better to braai him a thick t-bone, he earned it!!

Bullet really is lucky to have survived that one...

Glad he will be ok!

Little Bully is a madman..... a complete & utter badass. I send my best to him & Jacques...... as fellow dog owners know. They are family.

Get will soon buddy!

Wow, lucky little dude! So happy to hear he will be OK and thankful we are not reading his eulogy.
He's got it made with the ladies, though. Bitches love scars! :D

So sad to see this. Bullet is one of the most amazing dogs I have ever seen in action. Fearless but so smart at his job. That little dog was a big part of our first trip to Africa and we talk about him still. He was a big hit with my son who was 12 at the time. Hope he is back up and hunting again soon.

Ouch, wish him a speedy recovery.

JRTs are totally fearless! Hope this little guy gets back to his old self soon!

He will be down a few months but is expected to survive.
A few months? If he's down for more than 2 weeks, then his JR lineage needs to be checked!;)
Tough little buggers and never let a wound hold them back beyond the initial shock! Glad he survived the encounter!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.

Have twice tried to post something that your site canned as "SPAM" or some problem.. "Contact the Administrator"... Not sure why even the "Contact" button would not send my comment so you only received my query but not the content in question. I'll see if I can get it to you this way... NOPE I use a VPN and perhaps that is causing me grief...
