In a bygone era various "men's" clubs emerged as posh places of networking and commerce. In our new age a lot of these clubs have shed the old world cauvinism for a more diverse business club, but maintained friendly formality.
My club, the Hamilton Club, used to be a men's only club but now is a very diverse environment that allows you to enjoy old world hospitality, networking, and service in an historic environment.
These clubs often have reciprocal memberships with clubs in other cities. What is really helpful is some have lodging at discounted rates! Good food, friendly staff and a cheap place to stay. It's actually awesome.
In South Africa we have reciprocal memberships with the Rand Club, The Durban Club and the Capetown Club.
I am actually looking for a club in Namibia. Or, at least a business social type club that I could try out after the hunt. Does anyone know of something along these lines? Also, is anyone familiar with other clubs in RSA or other parts of Africa?
