Let me apologize, I've looked but darn if I could find the thread that discussed my issues re scope selection. I had bought a Leupold VX5 2-10 scope and had it mounted using Warne rings. The issue was that there was no 'adjustment' to slide the scope rearward thanks to the scope construction versus the long action of the .375HH, and I could not get a full sight picture due to the extended distance between my eye and the scope. I basically bit the bullet and bought a VX5 1-5 illuminated. This allowed me to extend the scope back to acquire a full sight picture.
This leaves me with a problem though. I now have a (two actually) gunless scope.... gonna have to do some shopping I guess.

Absolutely the correct way to think, scopes need guns to go on not to be sold!! (y)(y)

Yeah I'm losing sleep because I currently find myself owning nothing between .223 and 30-06.

Haha, well I think that wont be a hard spot to fill

Well, I see you need a 7x57 to put that extra scope on!

Good grief man! You must quickly jump on the 6.5 Creedmor craze!!

Actually that is a cartridge that appeals to me. But the 7x57, or 7mm-08 would be good as well. Or step it up a notch to a .280AI. So many guns so little money...

Since you are looking at 6.5s already, why not consider the 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser? You can generally find a good one for $400 -$500. Then read Nathan Foster's write-up on that rifle in his Knowledge Base. Reload accordingly and you'll find that this 120 year old "Darling" leaves very little on the table when compared to the more modern 6.5 offerings.

I actually have a Swedish Mauser 6.5x55 in the closet. Started as a project, barrel cut back, bolt handle modified, drilled and tapped, but never shot. I should throw a scope on it and see how it shoots.

Got plenty of great choices...... .243, 6.5, 270, .300 Blk.....

Rick, the majority of them will outshoot d**n near anything except a bench rest rifle. My sight in target for several years was a piece of 8 & 1/2 X 11" paper with 3/4 " black electrician's tape in the shape of a (+). I fired one cold bore shot each year for three years. All shots are inside the intersection of the vertical and horizontal. None of the shots touch the edges.

I have a 3.5 x 10 ao leupold scope on my CZ-550 American. works well.

I don't know why but my CZs somehow end up with Leupolds on them. I honestly do try other scopes. I guess I will just have to get a Schmidt & Bender to switch. Anything else is just not worth the effort. :D :D :D

I do have a nice Meopta though, just have not mounted it yet.

Hello there. I’ve been wanting to introduce myself personally & chat with you about hunting Nilgai. Give me a call sometime…

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
