I am working to set up my ZKK 602 for an African hunt with Cape Buffalo on the menu. My primary sight is a 1x5 scope with QD rings but I'd like the original iron sights to be useful for backup if needed. I have cleaned the front sight and it has a silver end attached to it but is not very legible. I was thinking of adding a dab of fluorescent orange paint to it but I would like to get some input from people in the know as I'm guessing here.

I have done this. You will need to clean the metal first with isopropyl alcohol. Then buy a very fine artist paintbrush at a hobby store. Then prime the spot on the blade with white primer. Shoot a bit of paint into the cap of spray can and use that. See if a white blade does the trick for you. If not, proceed to flourescent orange or green. I also added a small pointer to face of the rear sight V. Make it a different color or the two sights will run together when looking at them. Of course you only need to paint the rear face of the front sight bead. Good luck. If you don't like the look, you can clean off the paint with acetone.

I once worked rotating shifts at an aluminum plant. Four of them for eight hour shifts: A, B, C, and D. I presume E shift = retired? :D

Does it have the pop up rear peep sight or just the express V?

Try KG Site Cote.
Available from big online gun supply retailers.
I've used both Red and Green, I prefer the Green, but many like the Orange.

It is much more visible than a canned spray paint like Krylon. The fluorescent pigment is easily visible.

Like any paint job, surface preparation is important, as noted below, I used 99% isopropyl alcohol, then acetone. Shake the bottle for a few minutes, it has a small ball bearing that mixes well.
The needle applicator works well on a small bead front. Instructions says dries in an hour, but I cure mine overnight.

After application, immediately clean the needle tip with acetone, or odorless mineral spirits and screw on the cap. It will dry out in a few months, but this gives some shelf life.

Really good paint that is visible in hunting conditions.

Some are using Diamond, zirconia or Swarovski crystals epoxied to the front site

I’ve used the fibre optic ones on a customers gun, they work well and come in different heights. They usually need to be fitted , which isn’t hard, just time consuming

I fitted one to my 602. Works brilliantly. The website describes how to do the fitting. Basically press the button and take off the old sight, Rub the base of the new sight on a piece of emery paper until it fits. Even a klutz like me was able to do it.

This ^^
I used a coarse diamond lap as it is flat, won’t rumple up

These types of over-sized front sight beads are available through various internet retailers.
Mine have all been ordered from “NECG” (New England Custom Gun).
And IMO, the ones that NECG imports from Recknagel of Germany, are the best ones.
I love these easy to see in a hurry large white beads.

Check out page 26 of the manual the OP provided. Is his sight the same as NECG? Possibly because they both load from front of the ramp. But the springloaded catch of this model is something I've not seen before. Possibly proprietary?

Try polishing the bead with flitz or the like, any metal polish works....I do this to all brass beads before I leave on a trip. Or have a new bright white one installed.

When I had my 505 Gibbs built I struggled with the front sight, the NECG Masterpiece Banded Ramp which I chose for the build lets you easily slide on and off different beads, yes using a spring loaded catch. I tried them all; Silver, White, and Fiber Optic Red and Green, at different times of the day in dark woods and in open fields cloudy skies and bright sunlight.. The White bead and the Silver bead disappeared at dusk and showed too much shadow when standing 90*s to the sun..The Green fiber Optic was by far the most versatile in the aforementioned times of day but perhaps the most fragile with a secondary front sight in a trap door grip cap or a fiber optic rod in hand I can change a broken one out in 5 mins but it was not the direction I wanted to go..
********A good friend who has forgotten more about shooting Iron sights then most of us know suggested I file a 45* face on the Silver Bead..Wow what a game changer picked up the ambient light in low light conditions, shadows were non existence, shown brightly in the sun and much more rugged when it came to surviving an African Hunt .... Give it a try

I tried in vain to open that but no dice.
So, I tried to download it.
Same failure.
(Computers harbor a lot of disdain toward me personally).

It's from papermill but same idea we worked 12 hour shifts a,b,c,d as a new employee I was on spareboard 8 years and I worked a lot of overtime so I showed up on every letter ... someone new asked what letter I was on and before I could answer the rest of them answered for me ... eshift and it stuck ...

I did already polish it but would like it more visible ... gonna try the flourescent paint as ontario hunter suggests if I don't like it I can acetone it off

Mine is on spring loaded catch ... just depress the catch and the sight slides out forward ... would be a snap to change heights ... I'll try to get to range this week and try a few shots open sights ... I understand it should be on at 50 yards with 300 grain bullets if it's at a factory setting

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
