@JGRaider appreciate the comments - I bought some Berger VLD for my .30-06 that I had planned on trying this fall also....may have to rethink that now and relegate them to a range round only
I used the 168gr berger vld a lot in my 7mm rem mag. They were doing 3060fps and I used them mainly on animals (red deer) from 300yds out. I did use them once on a red hind at about 50 yds. Hit her in the shoulder, projectile exited and dropped her on the spot.
I shot a pig at 400 odd yds, the entry wound looked like the projectile started to open up, (hit it behind the shoulder on a quartering away animal), dropped it on the spot, can't remember if it exited.
They work great on deer sized animals at range.
Would I use them in Africa? Probably not, I would use a 160 accubond. I would probably take a few if a long shot across a valley came up though.
I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
