Gents:
For my taste, many of the rifles here are too modern and gaudy. Artistic, yes, but too much ornamentation. How about this fine 12-bore double from about 1870 by Whistler? 26-inch barrels, fully rifled for a round ball. Weighs about 11 1/2 pounds, and very accurate with 5 drams of FFg GOEX or 40 grains of Blue Dot.
Done. You just need to insert every image as a... full image. How do I get them larger? Not sure what's the process.

round ball, not sound ball
ornamentation, not orientation
The edit feature is on my above posts and this one, but not the original. Is this because you worked on the pics?

There you go, calling people names again!! But a serious question. Do you know as much about Damascus barrel shotguns as you do rifles?Thank you. You are a gentleman.

Hi Cal, I am at work now. Will send you a couple of questions tonight. I'm about 10 hours ahead of you!A little. What can I help you with? I've been shooting Damascus rifles and shotguns for 25+ years. I love the look and pattern of the iron and steel mix.

So the 1 oz 2 1/2 inch loads from RST would work for the birds and be safe for the guns?@sierraone Would have to buy from a custom shop to get loaded ammo if you don't handload. I have a couple 1880's time frame 12 ga 2 1/2 in shotguns that I hunt with on a regular basis for doves. I mainly use smokless loads that keep a 1 oz load at the same pressure parameters of the black powder. But a big cloud of white smoke of the black is just so much fun. I also had a 500BPE double that had damascus barrels, it got traded for another double. Shooting older BP area double rifle or shotgun will be a chore if you don't reload. If you choose to go the fine old double route there are several on the fourm that can help you.
