Following my first hunt in Mozambique with my son, I published an article in African Hunting Gazette describing us taking a pair of bulls with Mashambanzou Safaris in Coutada 14 in the Zambezi Delta. Recently, the journal finished cataloguing the back issues on line. It was a fabulous experience (good enough that I repeated it this past October). I thought perhaps some of you would enjoy reading the story of the original hunt for a pair of swamp buffalo.

Looking for birds Tuna fishing seems so much simpler.

I think a bow hunt in that grass might be interesting.

Thanks for sharing the tale.

A great story indeed. Thank you for sharing it with us.

General, very nicely written. I think the Colonel should take some writing lessons from you.
That was pretty funny - good to see you last night.

Excellent story and a great father/son adventure that must still bring you both enjoyment, every time you re-live it.

Hunting with your son........Priceless!

A great adventure wonderfully told. Thank you for sharing :)

Great story! Thank you for sharing. I'm sure stalking black death in the high grass of a swamp is a rush all its own. Congrats on the great trophies!

Good writing! I felt like I was there with you. Being that close to hundreds of Buffalo would be amazing.
I am going on my first buffalo hunt buffalo in two years time. Although, it will be in the Caprivi strip, reading your experience has really raised my anticipation. Thanks for sharing.

Took my first buffalo in the Caprivi. Incredible place to hunt. I am confident you will not be disappointed. The bull in my avatar came from there. We also spent a lot of time dodging elephant - amazing total experience.

Great adventure well described. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
