Always wanted 30-06 with a 24 in. barrel. It will be interesting to to see what I can get for velocity with a 180 grain bullet.

Well my new single shot friend,

Actually you can, but your accuracy may suffer, but then again it might not.

I load up 06 with Nosler Ballistic Tips 165 grain for a bolt gun that I neck shoot deer with and it is sub moa and is over 3 k. No deer has ever walked away.

Be careful and good luck with the new iron.

I have seen loads that claimed 2900 fps with 180gr. bullets. I myself will try for 2800. Not as velocity crazy as I was in my younger days.

A fella once asked me what did I think he would get if he put x amount of y powder in his new 270 with a z grain bullet?

My response was that he'd get a bill for about 100 k from the plastic surgeon who puts his face back on.

It is one hell of a temptation to magnumize everything. There are some you can like your 06 and others you can't like a 08.
