NY steelhead and walleye fishing may 2018

Booked a night trip trolling for walleye in Feb for this past weekend in Oswego NY with Bill and Dakota Capwell. We went up a day early and fished the salmon river for steelhead. Due to the late winter there were still plenty of steelies still working their way out of the river and into the Lake Ontario. We landed 15 steelies and had on a few more. A great morning! Here are some pics.

You dd well on the steelhead. How was the walleye fishing?

Skunked on the Walleye! Long winter seems to have pushed back the bite. This likely is what kept so many steelhead in the river.

For the walleye we trolled 4 stick baits for 5 hours and only caught one big ugly Bowfin. It was probably 7-8 lbs. I had never seen one before.

Was a fun trip and we had some great laughs. Hope to get out for salmon in sept maybe also.
