I like to think it was everybody else's fault....I was just along for the ride.
Not until the proselytizers started. We need another thread for those so inclined. That happened 2355 pages ago!
I agree completely, start another thread regarding religion and allow this one to return to politics/current eventsNot until the proselytizers started. We need another thread for those so inclined.
Yes, fingers crossed! Maybe between Bondi and Patel, the hungry kraken can finally be released - after a temporary aestivation.Trump nominates Kash Patel as FBI director. A federal toilet that needs a good flush.
All others pay cash."Go ye into all the world, into every thread, forum, discussion board, and chat room; and preach the Gospel."

My point was that millions have people have died due to religious wars throughout history. So, you are making my point.Could be. If a religious sect is intent on wiping you, your family and culture from the face of the earth, you can either fight the war or be exterminated.
So what was your point?
Hardly. Some or most of your examples may not have been “religion-based” at all if carefully examined. But alas, that inspection of the details of historical truth may not fit a narrative that may reveal an inconvenient truth. Many so-called religious wars may not be so religious upon closer examination. They have been conveniently labeled so by atheistic or agnostic historians who also want to create a narrative. Also, “religion” may have been used as a convenient label for rulers or leaders to justify their actions and/or used as a recruitment tool to encourage reluctant conscripts or volunteers to sign up to fight. IMO, most conflicts are primarily based on ambitions for power, control, wealth or resources. Do you really think King Richard of England, during his Crusade, traveled all the way to Jerusalem for the sole purpose of saving Christianity?? I don’t buy it, but you can buy whatever interpretation of history you like. Remember, you are the one who used the Crusades as a prime, generic example of “religious wars”.My point was that millions have people have died due to religious wars throughout history. So, you are making my point.
I am sure your local evangelistic preacher knows better than all of those heathen historians. Many so called religious wars may not be so religious upon close examination and have been conveniently labeled so by atheistic or agnostic historians who also want to create a narrative.

Can you provide us with a credible reference that states that the Crusades were not, in fact, based on religion? Given that they were initially directed by Pope Urban II as an effort to reclaim Jerusalem from Islamic rule that had threatened Christian communities and pilgrimages from the West, that sounds like a religious cause to me. Did the Crusaders fill their pockets while fighting Islam? Of course. For two reasons; first, the cost of mounting the Crusades was quite expensive. Richard I, who by the way is my 42nd great uncle, literally sold most everything he had to finance his army and their journey. Second, by relieving the Muslims of their wealth, it made it more of a challenge for them to mount a defense in future incursions.Hardly. It surely would turn in to an exercise in urinary olympics. It's going that way now. I'm surprised someone hasn't yet reported the religious posts off topic.I believe there was a thread proposing such a thing but it got axed.
As a Deist I agree with you %100.My point was that millions have people have died due to religious wars throughout history. So, you are making my point.
Frankly, I'm kinda getting a chuckle out of all the zealots blatting their "truth".It surely would turn in to an exercise in urinary olympics. It's going that way now. I'm surprised someone hasn't yet reported the religious posts off topic.
Careful, though the movies have long castigated and ridiculed preachers, THEY ALSO DO IT TO 2ND A PEOPLE, HUNTERS AND CONSERVATIVES IN GENERAL. Not a good source to lean on.I am sure your local evangelistic preacher knows better than all of those heathen historians.
You kinda remind me of the Preacher in the movie "Footloose"
I frankly, cannot disagree. Have a good dayIt surely would turn in to an exercise in urinary olympics. It's going that way now. I'm surprised someone hasn't yet reported the religious posts off topic.
Indeed, tens of millions have died under the Muslims alone. (but way over a hundred million civilians under communist rule) Surely a more transparent inspection of such wars, sparing no one due responsibility could help us prevent such travesties. War is hell.My point was that millions have people have died due to religious wars throughout history. So, you are making my point.
I have a NEWS FLASH for you. No one is excited or happy about killing Palestinian CIVILIAN Muslims or Christians. What people see a need for is the DESTRUCTION of Hamas and other terrorist organizations. Some civilians will.unfortunately die as a result. If the terrorists are not hunted down and destroyed there, they come here. Remember 9/11/01? Nothing very much has changed. Supporting Israel in their war for a right to exist is not a continuation of the Crusades, it is self defense.well as I see it, the crusades are still going on "today" ZIONIST Christians, and Politian's are all raaa, rrraaa, go Israel ,kill those Palestinians Muslims and Christians alike. this is what I don,t see at all , all those people are semites both Israeli's and Palestinians read your old testament Duet. 7-3 the Hebrew people intermarried time and time again, in spite of commanded dont do it. they are mostly all mixed blood, semite people , the" land promise" by God to the jews was invalidated by their own repeated disobedience thats why he had them go into captivity to babyloyn and then finally in 68-70 A D he had them scattered everywhere( the diaspora) and their annihilation and destruction of their temple as prophesied and sanctioned by Christ himself, the UN in 1948 doesnt change that, it is finished on the cross,1Corinthians5-7, a new covenant inaugurated the old was done.. Hebrews 8-8 .Christ is the apex ,center of all history, past present future . Genesis to revelation. it is now ,and from then on a world wide religion not one judaism , there is neither jew or Greek, Romans 2-28, John 11-52, Zionist wanting to see a rebuilt temple, a center of the world old Jerusalem and reinstalled animal sacrifices at such temple, totally miss the value of the book of Hebrews. 8-6,7 Christ is the sacrifice for all times , the alpha and the omega, there is no going back, Hebrews 7-19 Heb.7-22..,ROMANS, Galatians, Hebrews, and acts explains this in great detail, acts 3-22-23. John 5-39 JESUS spoke to the Jews .You search the scriptures Because in them you think you have eternal life, but they speak (bear witness) of ME, and you are unwilling to come to me.. read john 8-42-44 then tell me how you can declare the jews are still now today Gods chosen people?.If you dont believe this then explain 1 john 22 -22 the( epistle) and john ( the_ gospel)5-43 5-46,47. And Romans 4-14.
I wish Charles Darby would have stayed in Scottland in the 1800,s and never came over here with his teachings. may I suggest ," Historical Theology for the church" by DUESING AND FINN, . and teachers Bruce Gore and Steve Gregg God Bless ,JUST MY 5 cents worth.

I think Sinclair Lewis would have been jealous for not having employed that at some point.Heathen historians
