A friend of mine just purchased a drilling at an estate auction for a price he couldn't refuse with the thoughts of it as investment for possible resale. He is looking for information on the weapon and contacted me. I do not have much knowledge concerning drillings. Can anyone direct me to a source of information or would anyone here be able to shed some light on this particular weapon? I do not have pictures but I have seen the weapon and the workmanship is impressive. This is what I know:
Robert Schueler
16ga SxS over 8.7x74R (I believe this is the same as 9.3 x 74R)
Nitro stamped and British proof marked
Selector on the left side
With safety release the rear rifle sight pops up
Cartridge trap in the stock comb for spare rifle cartridges
Grip cap and butt plate appear to be buffalo horn
Weapon is in overall good shape with no rust, no chips in the wood, bores are excellent, minor scratches in stock and 75%-80% bluing on engraved metal. Lockup is tight and everything appears to be functioning as it should.
The little I have been able to find is that Robert Schueler was probably a seller of firearms that contracted with German gun builders to have these made to his specifications and were sold under his name. Please, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
