Thinking About Africa? READ THIS!

"My name is Nate and I have an addiction."
It all started with what I thought would be a once-in-a-lifetime hunt in Limpopo, South Africa With Cruiser Safaris in September 2016. While overnighting at Afton, I met an older gentleman who had hunted Africa 15 times starting in 1991. I briefly thought of him as a cautionary tale, but then realized that he was an inspiration.
After a great hunt and literally as we driving to OR Tambo, I started planning to return. In April 2017, I hunted with African Cape Safaris in the Eastern Cape. Great hunt and I realized that I wanted to hunt with them again. Probably in 2020.
In January 2017, I won a auction hunt at the SCI Las Vegas Chapter with Namibia Safari Corporation. I finished that hunt in April 2018. I look forward to hunting with Jaco again, hopefully Hippo or Buffalo in the Caprivi in 2021 or 2022.
In May 2019, I am hunting Buffalo for the first time with Pawprint Safaris. I am equally blessed that I will be in camp with Norfolk Shooter and Dabloobana, two of my cohorts from the first AfricaHunting Get Together in London.
So, I admit that I am an addict. I don't know how this will end, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

I too have this condition. Couple it with my big bore addiction and you get a Lion hunt planed for next year with a 416 Rigby double rifle. I'm more excited about this hunt than I was my first time out in Africa. This is mainly due to the company I shall be having in camp. @Vanguard2279 @dabloobana this is going to be a good one I'm very much looking forward to it

Starting to get the heebee-jeebees so I'm Whatsapping with one of our fellow members in RSA on the possibility of a 2019 hunt.

we are all lost, with no hope of salvation and only our own company to comfort in our dark hours of need. I,m so weak as I keep giving in to the dark desires of Africa. the sling shot lady, who chased baboons all day, we helped her out.

I was studying medicine at the turn of the century when I discovered yahoo search also gave other (African) results for “hunting” than bucks.com, “joe and maccas hog hunt site” etc and the other American websites.

When I saw the number of active PHs I was blown away.
Back then the trophy prices of most DG was in four figures not five.
However to a student, even that much money seemed like the federal reserve.
I really wanted to hunt there so hit upon an idea. I sent dozens of emails to the safari operators offering to work free as a Gun bearer, manual labourer, cleaner, wood chopper etc etc. All I asked for was 2 meals a day, a place to sleep and a couple of cull plainsgame a year.
I even offered to help with any medical emergencies and be their resident dr for free.

I knew that if I got accepted, I wouldn’t be offered any luxury accommodation so I started sleeping on the floor and sleeping in 42-45 degree heat without air conditioning or fan.

It took me a year to adapt to this new lifestyle.
Alas most people didn’t reply.
The ones who did said they had a lot of people willing to work for food.
Some said thanks for the email we have no vacancies but will keep you informed.
One advised me not to give up my medicine career ( I’m not sure but I think he said something like that)
No one said don’t worry, become a dr, earn and save money and come to us as a client.

If some PH reading this remembers an email 15 years+ ago then it was me

The bug is going to bite you next year my friend. By the way there is no inoculate for the infection

As of yet I remain uninfected. I have wrapped myself in bubble wrap, inside a plastic bubble. Hopefully I will remain safe from this bug.

Run. Run away before it's too late. :cautious::X3:

resistance is futile... You are on this site, you are already infected. One of the most pleasurable diseases I have encountered.

Nope, I'm just here because I have a relative who's majorly infected, over 300 miles away. Only thing I've ever shot is a squirrel. Wanted to see what the place was like. This seemed the best option.

their are two kinds of hunters in the world, those who have hunted in Africa and those who will. you don,t know it yet, but the squirrel has put you on the path to hell. this hunter quit cold turkey and he does not have much time left to come back before he passes.

Watch out my friends, this is a highly contagious disease. In eleven days I leave on safari number two. The first in Zimbabwe and this one in Namibia. But in this case my brother is going with me as an observer (and photographer) and he has "the fever"... BAD!
He has been doing research like I did for safari number one. I spoke with him last night and he is still adjusting his gear. Since he went with me to SCI in '17, he's been afflicted by the disease. Poor guy!

You do know it’s contagious 300 miles is nothing for the condition to travel. Good luck with remaining uninfected it’s won’t last long though.

Gentlemen you all are correct! It is an addiction. I sit here just returning from my first trip, which I thought would be my “once in a lifetime trip”. Trying to see if I can swing trip 2 next year or need to wait till 2020. I think not!! Going to make 2019 happen someway. With same outfitter again I had such a great time with Gerrit at Bos en Dal.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
