I hope some of you may be able to help?

I am heading from London, England to the head office of the company I work for this coming weekend. I am flying into Chicago O'Hare on Sunday, arriving mid afternoon. I have a hotel booked in Milwaukee close to the office.

I may have some free time and intend on visiting some local gun stores. I know there are also a few Cabela's in the area which I will go and see.

My shopping list so far is.........

2 x Jewel triggers for my 7mm Rem Mag and 243 Remington 700's that I have back at home in England. Does anyone know of any stores in the Chicago or Milwaukee area that would stock Jewel triggers?

Various items of clothing including snow camo. My 10 year old twin daughters also want me to bring somepink realtree home!!! Which I am sure Cabela's will have loads of both.

I would also like to know what thermal boots would be recommended for a couple of mountain hunts I will be doing over the next few years. One hunt is not too far from home, France for chamois this coming November. I may not even need thermal boots for this trip, it all depends how early the snow comes I suppose.
I am also in the early stages of planning a trip to Kyrgyzstan for mid asian ibex. So I want thermal boots for whilst on horseback that would also being suitable for a good walk too?

I am not sure whether my next question would be possible or not? I would like to visit a range, the Milwaukee area would be preferable as that is where I am staying. In the UK it is rare to be able to fire the kind of weapons you guys can in USA, it would be great if I would be able to do this? Anyone point me in the right direction?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Your best bet is Google it shows 4 Gander Mtn and 1 Cabelas, i think Cabelas will have a better selection on Clothes and Boots based on my experience..as for gun ranges same thing Google will give you the Location. As far as Jewell triggers my on-line search only show on line dealers like Graf and Sons or Brownells if your going to be in the Colonies for a while I'd oreder what you need and have it shipped to where your staying. I'd be of more help if you were staying in Chicao as it's my Home Town

I lived in Chicago for a while and all I can say is that there is a never-ending list of things that you should do when visiting. First of all, I would be remiss if I did not recommend that you visit the museums. The science museum has an actual german U505 submarine and a great exhibit to go along with it (yes, you can go inside the sub). I also insist that you go to at least one nice restaurant while visiting. I live in Florida now and love it, but nothing compares to the Chicago restaurant scene.
My recommendations are:
-Topolobampo
-Frontera Grill
-Xoco (very casual)
-Girl and the Goat (they actually specialize in goat)
-Allinea
-Tru
-The Publican (literally all meat)
- Bacus (in Milwaukee)

Now on to the topic of what you actually want to know about, there is a great range in Bristol, Wisconsin. The name slips my mind at the moment but I do remember that it is outdoors and has a covered and heated section for winter. I think that there is also a Cabelas in Hoffman Estates. Keep me posted on what you think of Chicago and what you do.

Cmon if your going to be in Chicago you have to have a Chicago Pizza a Chicago Style Hot Dog and a Italian Beef, eat at Ditka's, Gene and Gorgettis and Harry Carys and top it off with a Brew at Butch McGuirres, and yes there is a Cabelas in Hoffman Estates

I live just north of milwaukee. Cabelas in Richfield wisconsin is a must. Gander mountain gun world is only a few miles south of cabelas. The gun world has guns and more guns. I really enjoy going to the cabelas gun vault . Cabelas is a experiance and gander is a sales store. Sorry no help on the gun store that you could shoot at in milwaukee. Russell moccasin makes the best boots in the world. They are located in wisconsin . It would be a 2 hour drive from milwaukee. 1 hr 30 min form richfiled cabelas. If you did drive up there you could stop at Midwest shooters supply in lomira and shoot some pistols they rent in their indoor shooting range.

I am headed to Cambridge next year to visit my sister in law and I will be visiting double rifle makers. I can't wait.

Enjoy our weather it may hit 30 degrees this weekend . Today outside my eyelashes froze.

I'm an hour west from Chicago and Milwaukee. There's also a couple Bass Pro shop stores within an hour of Chicago that may have what you are looking for, the one in Bolingbrook is pretty nice. For Gun stores there's gat guns in Dundee near Chicago and Marengo Guns also nearby. Yeah a lot of guys go to the Bristol gun range in Wisconsin and there is another one in Eagle, WI.

Jewell Triggers have been on 6-month backorder for years.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.

Have twice tried to post something that your site canned as "SPAM" or some problem.. "Contact the Administrator"... Not sure why even the "Contact" button would not send my comment so you only received my query but not the content in question. I'll see if I can get it to you this way... NOPE I use a VPN and perhaps that is causing me grief...
