Women as Professional Hunters; What's with that?

...............
The other most important thing is during transports, the main important thing as a PH is to always secure the client. With a blonde girl holding the steering wheel of the hunting bakkie in the night in remote areas where sometimes high jacking and roadblocks are common is not what I should feel comfortable with, for a black guy a white woman is in them mind a easy target...

Client safety is ultimately important. I get the easy target perception.

Bluster and BS may help you get through the occasional shake down. I have also seen a "beer tax" at the road blocks work quite well.

Why have all the male Outfitters and PH's left C.A.R?

At some point, in light of people who place little value on human life, your gender does not matter. The machine is a great equalizer...

That photo say everything Brickburn, those people is probably the reason why Eriks clients always flying out to the hunting area from Bangui ! I guess he is the only one still operating up there this days...

Brick, then truthfully you haven't seen much...maybe on the way back to the trucks, we will let the gun bearers carry guns, but never on the tracks..

Brick, I only saw your post of the youngster with AK after my previous reply, last year in May, myself and my PH in two separate Landcruisers, me in front got caught in an ambush, for over 25 minutes, we got out alive, without any bullet holes through our trucks, first 5 minutes was hell....after that we both even took out our phones and took videos, then with the help of a black in front of us in his taxi, made a break and drove through, would a woman PH be the right material, NO! Being a ph outside SA, takes a lot more than just guiding a client. Lets look at another aspect, we have to build our camps and open about 400km of road every year, do you think the indigenous people will listen to her or have any respect..NO!!

I tell you my friend that the gender depends very very much down here special in the black community, this people don't see a woman with respect if they do not know her for some years, and she is hard like a rock !!!

Furthermore if a white person are nice to them they will see this as a sign of weakness, and there is no way in the world this can be changed...

It's therefore a much higher risk that a car getting highjacked when they see it's a woman driving !

Just how things are...

Scary damn place right now and flying in through an international airport is even a little much adventure for most of us.

I have watched so much video tape of hunting trips and I tell you I have never seen the PH carrying the hunters gun.
Maybe they edit it out to make the hunter feel better.
Maybe you do it. I just have not seen it. The PH usually has their own damn gun to take care of.

Just like in the videos, you don't see all the bad shots..I have hunted for a few of the ESPN channels, ...sometimes when I watch the edited version, can't believe I was even on the same hunt. As for my bird dogs, they got so confused having to do retakes and shots just being fired into the air, I think they will bite anyone they see with a camera.

Was also reflecting on what reaction will come from the wife after telling her that you planing to do a 45 days tented safari with a female ph like N.I.B ??????? ;)......

..........

Seriously, my wife would not care.

You don't need 45 days to demonstrate integrity or a lack thereof.

All I can think of is exhaustion..... Sheer exhaustion.

yeahhh, , id be hunting hard and showing all the integruity needed aswell
im of the belief , that we are all human
and if anyone ,of us , male and female , were on a 45 day hunt ,with anyone , p.h or another hunter of the opposite gender
and never sneaked a peak , or had an inappropriate though ,in that time , im sorry but I think you were lying , even if you were a poof.....

and I really have no problem being guided by a woman , as already said , this September , ive already laid down deposit to do this ......

Is that a DG hunt you plan Bluey ???? What region?

plains game , and a croc with a bow , if can get permits
in Zambia.....

Plains game hunting is mainly judging trophy's in a friendly environment... Even my mother in law can do that.... Speak yesterday with a old friend and outfitter in RSA, he told me a 30 year old female game guide in a private game reserve ask him if she passing the PH course if it's was possible that she could work for him later on.... He told her that it's not a good idea...

To me he say that he would never put his business in risk to employ a female ph...

Perhaps we are a bit more conservative that what you are in U.S and Australia.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
