Hi,

I intend to book a Buff hunt with the above outfit, to hunt Buffalo in the Matesti 6 & 7 hunting areas, later this year. Does anyone have any info on this outfit, PH or the area?

Thanks!

I have never heard of them (by no means I know all operators). My recommendation would be ask Kalulu for the name of the PH you would hunt with.

Email Sally at SOAZ to confirm if Kalulu and the PH are licensed in Zim.

soaz@mweb.co.zw

Zimbabwe Professional Hunters and Guide Association is another good resource.

Martin Pieters is the Chairman

martin@bulembisafaris.co.zw

Good luck with your hunt.

Hello Threadfin,

Mike is 100 percent correct , try and get that info from them. To be honest i have never heard of them myself. I did see on their website that their PH is (Mash) Mariet Mashsongnakia , i would say he is based in Zim not sure.... better you follow Mikes words and check it all out !

Good luck !!

Thanks for the replies. I had already checked that "Mash" is a licensed PH in Zim, he is, so that part is OK! I will keep digging.

Cheers!

Threadfin,

I thought Unit 7 was photographic, but things change quickly. Anyway, I sent you a PM with some information.

Here is a map of the Matetsi Safari area.

Matetsi Safari Unit Six kept ringing a bell in the back of my mind.

It is owned by Constantine Gureya Chiwenga and his wife Jocelyn. The importance of this that they are both on the US Banned List. As I understand, it is illegal to do any type of business with these individuals if you are American.

Zimbabwe Sanctions

I emailed Joe da Silva and he confirmed the Chiwengas still own Matetsi Six.

I emailed him again and asked if the trophies were exportable. His response was interesting. He claims his quota comes from National Parks from the rations quota and they are exportable.

I turned this over to SOAZ and ZPHGA.

Each person must make his own decision that has legal and ethical ramifications.

I myself would not be caught dead (or alive) in Matetsi Six.

Hmmm and I was more worried about Matetsi 7 being a Photographic unit......

Thanks all!

mike- i too have considered kalulu for buffalo. am having difficulty finding them to be registered with soaz or zphga. noticed you sent pm to threadfin. would you share that info with me thanks smokepole

I have been in contact with both Joe and Mash and I am happy with the explanations and reassurances I have been given on both the outfitter and the hunting areas in question. We have booked the hunt with them ( Joe happens to be a long time friend of my hunting partner), so hopefully a full and happy report will follow in August. Thanks again for all the input.

Cheers,

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
