405 Win in the '95 Rifle

Here's my original finish '95 made in 1904- 1st year production for the 405 Win in the '95. This one has factory installed Lyman 21 and sling eyes on barrel and buttock as special order. Otherwise standard straight walnut stock and standard crescent butt. I added a DYI leather lace-on pad with thick leather insert to "flatten" the crescent.
I knew an ol' trapper - Jim Kaineer - who lost his left hand in a sawmill accident about 1930. He was a blacksmith, and fashioned all manner of attachments for his homemade saddle leather prothesis extending from just below the elbow to his 'hand'. He owned one these 1895's but in 30-06. He would rest it across his saddle leather forearm to shoot.
One of my last memories of him, was watching him row away across the swollen Pine River in the Peace River country, at breakup, to go beaver trapping.
I've wanted one those rifles since then.
