This Elephant was taken from about 5-8 meters. The first shooter had a .460 Weatherby rebarreled from an old .458Win in Brno. The second/third shooters simultaneously followed up with a .505 500grain solid and .375H&H 300grain solid respectively. The thick, heavily-wooded mopane shrub was so dense that visibility was sometimes limited to the path an Elephant had just made through the Botswana concession: the size of a little more than the width of an elephant! I blundered up the video footage as this was my first big game hunt ever, let alone at such close quarters. After the initial blast of the .460, I tried to see where the bull's forehead had disappeared to by using my eyesight and not by looking through the lens of the camera, whereupon I was met with 5 synchronous and even more deafening blows to my inner ears, the footage is amateur to say the least...the experience of this hunt is priceless at worst. Tuli Block,Botswana January 2009. I did not shoot this bull, nor have I shot any of the big five (yet), I was just posing in this and a couple more pics. That is the .505 Gibbs I am holding.
