Hunting over a Pointing dog

Tokkie, your picture brings warmth to my heart.

A beautiful dog in a classic point pose out hunting with his master.
It just does not get better than that.

I have two GWP's.
One of them hunts, the other doesn't.
I only said the other day, I would rather go out hunting with my dog and not get a deer as opposed to shooting a big stag on my own without Penny (my hunting GWP).

@PaulT thank you, you have not lived until you have hunted over a good dog. I seldom hunt with friends, but I never hunt without my dogs anymore.
Something I wrote a few years back, you may enjoy it.

After our club championship someone asked me if I prayed to win. I always bend a knee and my head before I run my dog.
I never,never pray to win.

I pray to say thanks for the blessing of being able to do what I do, for travelling there safely and for the people I meet.

I pray that I do not forget that it's about the dogs not the people

I pray that I act in a sportsman like fashion and like a gentleman no matter how awkward it may get.

I pray that I do not let my dog down.

I pray that she runs as she is able to, no more no less.

I pray that the judge will see my dog as I see my dog, both good and bad.

I pray that the bird that pays the ultimate price dies quickly and painlessly.

I pray that my fellow handlers and their dogs are at their best and have luck with them.

I pray to be gracious in defeat and humble in victory.

Most of all I pray that my dog may be safe and free of harm, I pray this too for my fellow dogs and handlers.
