Cz 550 505 gibbs. Action sliked, jewelled bolt, two recoil reducers, two cross bolts, bedded, mate finish all from factory.

Nice! I thought it was a CZ 550, but from the photo I couldn’t see the double bridges clearly. Great rifle, especially from the factory!

Developing load for this one is a challenge. It can hold up to 160gr of powder slightly compressed.
With 25 inch barrel you can not burn all the slow powder. Uncompressed it can hold 148 gr of RL 22 OR 25. That is also dont work not enough velocity and all the powder dont burn. Federal 215 is the hottest primars available. You dont want to load it less than 95% capacity. In cold weather it could cause secondary ignition that is dangerous. I got some new powders I am going to try. I dont use fillers. With fillers I may be able to get by with h4931ssc.
Krish.

Wow! That’s an interesting reloading conundrum?

Yes. That is because I dont want the velocity to be more than 2200-2250.
If I can handle, which will be ridiculous, yes there are powders that will give 2500f/s.
I dont need that.
It is difficult because finding the right powder which will fill the case also burn completely in the barrel and keep the velocity at 2200, and no excessive pressure.

Maybe you should start a thread under reloading here and ask other Gibbs owners what their loading data consists of? It’s a small percentage of Gibbs’ vs. other cartridges, but I’m sure you would get a response?

Do a search here for .505 Gibbs. I just did and there are several owners who have apparently reloaded the Gibbs. Maybe they have some insight for you.

I dont know weather you are looking for 416 Tylor brass. I found this in GB. I BOUGHT some 505 gibbs brass from him. Made a small negotiation with the price. Thought let you know.
