Hunters United Against Poaching

Since the inception of the NAPHA Hunters United Against Poaching program, remarkable success has been achieved in combatting poaching incidents in hunting concessions throughout Namibia. Our focus has been on prevention rather than conviction - we have used the expertise and funds at our disposal to finance monitoring on the ground as well as from the air. We have earned the trust and cooperation – the eyes, ears and boots on the ground - of local communities in remote rural hunting and conservation areas. Through both visibility and the establishment of information sharing channels, we have been instrumental in preventing incidents of poaching as well as recovery of ivory and horn with culprits arrested.
In partnership with the Eagle Rock Professional Hunting Academy, we have sponsored the training of 24 community game guards from rural areas. The course covered all aspects necessary to monitor human and wildlife movement, as a further initiative towards our aim of completely eliminating poaching in hunting areas where NAPHA members are active.
We are again joining forces with the Namibian and international conservation and hunting community by hosting a formal dinner and live auction on the 31st of August 2017 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort to raise funds towards further anti-poaching initiatives.
Items on auction are one life-sized handcrafted rhino made from exquisite Namibian marble by the world renowned sculptor, Gé Pellini, international hunts, trophy hunts, own use hunts, weekend getaways, several pieces of exquisite jewellery and various miscellaneous items including a Krieghoff Semprio hunting rifle.
All proceeds raised from the auction will be managed by members of the Trust, which comprises of representatives of the Namibia Professional Hunting Association (NAPHA), the Namibian Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), as well as an independent legal practitioner.
Please invest in the future of our valuable wildlife by supporting this proven conservation and anti-poaching initiative.
