We hunted Kudu on a large property and passed up a couple around 50". I was hoping for something special, saw a monster wide bull high 50's but he knew the score and disappeared in the high scrub. We finally saw a group of three and then lost them again, two were good bulls and one was small. After a lot of searching we found them 150 meters away, this fellow stood in the clear facing away and the guide said shoot. He took a solid chest shot and amazingly just stood there, the second shot spined him and he dropped. As we walked up to him the guide realised his mistake, he had told me to shoot the small one, they look bigger from behind. I was a pretty disappointed as Kudu were my number 1 animal but it gives me an excuse to go back and get a bigger one!
