Outfitter rough score this one stag at 460. Conroe Taxidermy, master SCI measurer, scored at 521. Nicknamed him 'Big Red'. The animal was discovered on a neighboring ranch and I was given the opportunity to hunt him. We glassed the small mountain crags he was thought to be hiding in one morning for several hours. Later that night, my last night, sheep herders and their dogs busted him from cover at base of mountain. We stalked with 400 yards and closed to within three as he was buggin out on his way up and over the mountain. First shot with .300 Win Mag struck him but took two more to finish him as I could barely maintain my composure from 'buck fever'. Epic hunt.
