PM me your 3031 load for the 470 when you get a chance. I have a year and some change until my next hunt and I've got a jug of 3031. I'm curious to shoot it side by side with my 4831 load and see if I can tell a difference in the felt recoil.
Yeah I like the 3/8, I doubt it would matter a whole lot but, the 3/8 seems to be about a perfect fit in the 470. I used 1/2 in a 500 Jeffrey once and it worked really well in that. The 3/8 should be a lot easier to get into the .458 and .416.
I purchased an industrial size roll of 3/8" foam backer rod for the times I do.need a filler. It is the perfect diameter for 470, 500, 45/70, 20 gauge shot cup spacer for hand loading TSS or magnum lead loads. I just snip off the length I need with a pair of scissors.
H4831SC. That's the powder I run in my K gun. I can switch between Hornady DGX, Swift A frames, and cutting edge solids without changing the powder charge and get basically the same POI
There is often a lot of discussion on here about the capabilities and various attributes of different calibers. One I have seen often is the 375 vs 416. I have accidentally found an interesting source of real world information on this topic.
I was bored a few days ago, flipping through...
WTB Beretta 1301 or A300 Patrol, considering building a tactical turkey rig. I have recently started reloading my own TSS turkey loads and I'm thinking about putting together a dedicated short barreled turkey rig. Let me know what y'all got!
While my original plan was to get a S&W 500, turkey season is nigh upon us and europtics just emailed to let me know that the Beretta A300 patrol in multicam is now in stock and I would very much like to kill a turkey with one of them.
I will be entertaining all reasonable offers. Ha ha
