We love the 375 H&H and Ruger bush thumper Photo thread!

Please tell us about your Ruger #1 .375 Flanged. Looks like a custom barrel with the placement/type of sling swivel, length, and front sight. Something I've been thinking about.

    Sleep Schedule

I hope this can help safari travelers plan for a most successful trip. This method is what I practiced, based on advice from my doctor in Dallas. Travelled in the late1990s, traveling to Europe, Middle East, Africa once a month. My doctor treated many AA international pilots and travelled a...

    275 Rigby Takedown

What a nice example of top class craftmanship. Thank you for posting these pictures and the other folks examples as well. The bolt knob, as shown in the pictures is flattened, was that a Rigby option? A beautiful rifle!

.375H&H Barrel length… what say you?

For a redneck living in the woods, from a Cajun redneck living in woods, appreciate your real-world data. Given cartridge bore/case ratio, 25 fps per inch seems the valid rule. Thanks. Just validates that I "need" a 22 inch barrel .375 H&H.

One for Franz! The 470 Capstick!

@michael458, I appreciate your information on the .470 Capstick. Your big bore experiments and development work is very interesting and useful engineering, like all other work. I have read in other articles of problems with some .470 Capstick Winchester rifles. Good explanation. Regarding the...

Utilitarian Reasons to Own Similar Rifles in the Same Caliber

I have had three 30-06 rifles. Ruger 77 RSEX , true African Express style milled quarter rib, etc, made in 1994, nicer wood than most guns. A Ruger #1 , 131 series, very smooth. Husqvarna 640 with 24” barrel. As I am a serial gun philanderer, I sold the #1, rebarrelled the Husky to 35 Whelen...

The 47-70 has not, and never will, be a 458 win mag

I’ve always wanted a 45-90, loaded with a proper 450 to 480 grain bullet, 2050fps. Actually a pair of rifles, Winchester 1885, and a Winchester 1886 at proper velocity with CFE 223. Then a custom Double, regulated to above loads. An All American Trio.

    Video of Ruark’s 1953 Safari

Sir, Much appreciation that you are posting Robert Ruark's film from his 1953 safari. Just last night, I started reading Terry Wieland " A View from a Tall Hill, Robert Ruark in Africa". Uhuru, and Something of Value I've read many years ago. Need to read each again. To hunt Kenya, BEA, and...

How many guns is “too many”?

Spoken as a man married 28 years ( me too). I can relate.

Opinions on the real big boys? 500J, 505 Gibbs, .500 NE, 577NE, 600NE, 700NE etc.

I built a standing bench when I had (past tense operative) my .500 Jeffery CZ 550. Weighed 10.8 pounds with sling. Never even thought of putting a scope on it. My recoil limit was exceeded with Kynoch factory 535 grain loads at 2400 fps. The "fun" factor of a classic African .50 rifle...

    Best bolt action .22lr?

My experience is with a Ruger 77-22 Magnum, 18.5 inch RS model, not a 22LR. Rifle built in 1999. My rifle, purchased NIB, at a small gunship in 2004 shoots excellent accuracy out to 75 yards, my self imposed range for rimfires. Scoped with an IOR Valdada straight 4x, it is the most accurate...

    Win M70 ejector adjustment (CRF-models)

@BobReed, thanks for that information on current production M70s extractors. I did not know that. My 2008 M70 in 7mm Mauser has good extractor tension, and works. A good testament that ALL new production rifles need to be carefully evaluated and adjusted as needed.
