    US: Javelina you say

Congrats! He looks super excited. Great to get the youth involved in hunting. You must be proud. My only javelina was in South Texas also. Near Uvalde about 10 years ago. I need to go back. They make cool mounts. My friend made jerky from the meat. It wasn't that bad

    CBP Form 4457 Questions

I just took my rifles and 4457 forms to the CBP office at the Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) and did them there. My flight left from PBI to Atlanta, then on to Johannesburg. The CBP officer at PBI told me that since I was leaving/arriving starting at PBI that is all I had to do, despite...

How many guns is “too many”?

I have at last count approximately 220 plus or minus firearms. More than half belong to my wife, and then there are those passed down from relatives. I look at it as an investment that my family can use to enjoy our hunting passion. Some have increased in value (and some have lost value), and...

Info Please on Flying Delta Airlines Non Stop from Atlanta to Africa....

I flew that route in 2022, seating was Comfort +. It wasn't that bad. I'm coming out of West Palm Beach, so PBI to Atlanta, layover there, and then on to Johannesburg. The flight back was direct to Atlanta, but now it looks like it's down to Capetown, then over to Atlanta. I'll be heading back...

    9.3x62

My wife used a CZ 550 9.3 on her Sable in RSA. Shooting 286 grain Nosler Partitions. Lights out. She shoots this rifle well, as it has more of a push in recoil, similar to a shotgun. Not the hard shove of a magnum. Plenty of gun for all plains game I would think.

    Indulge me...Ruger no 1 thoughts.

Shooting a 500 grain Hornady DGX, it just dropped this bison and he never moved. I feel this rifle is very comfortable to shoot. I swapped out the hard recoil pad with a limb saver pad. It has the heavy Tropical barrel and weighs 11.4 lbs with the scope.

    Indulge me...Ruger no 1 thoughts.

I got the No 1 bug about 10 years ago, before the prices really started to climb. I currently have 5: a 7x57, 35 Whelen, 375 H&H, 458 Lott, and 450/400. We've shot bison with the Lott. It just flattens them.

    Recoil reducers

Also, I forgot I have a Edwards recoil reducer installed in my Ruger No 1 in 458 Lott that my son shoots. It helps tame that brute, making it almost enjoyable to shoot. Flown all around the US with it, and a trip to Africa as well. Never had an issue with TSA or airport security in RSA.

    Recoil reducers

I have 2 of the Bell & Carlson stocks with the recoil reducers installed by them; on each my 416 Ruger Alaskan and 416 Ruger Africa. Works great on them.

For Sale NIKON Monarch African scope 1-4x20

I have the 1" African version on my Winchester 70 in 458 Win Mag. It's nearly indestructible. Good luck with finding one. The pop up for sale from time to time. Look thru eBay and other outlets, not just gun related sights. I found mine on eBay 4 years ago.
