    45-70 dangerous game?

I got a news flash for you. Just because a hunter chooses not to use a lever action does not mean that he does not hunt a lot or shoot a lot. A .45-70 is nowhere near the middle in capability for big, tough, dangerous game. It is about the equal e f a .30-06, which has also been used to kill...

    45-70 dangerous game?

And sometimes the parent says, "Don't do that, you'll kill yourself!" Then the kid does it just to.prove he can. Then dies because it was a bad idea.

    45-70 dangerous game?

A lot of people confuse something that can be done with something that should be done.

Love or Hate for the 458 Winchester

Right! With.proper hand loads my .458 Winchester sends 500 grain bullets out at 2160 fps. That would be the sane as a 470 NE. I am nit especially recoil shy, but I can see no reason to take more abuse at my end.

    Nope. It was just obvious.

Have you used every caliber and every bullet available to shoot an animal? No, of course not. Now do you have any opinions.on which cartridges are suitable for certain animals? I would hope so. While many.people here think that the mono bullets work as well as quality leaded bullets, none seem...

Yes, and despite the fact that many people believe that mono bullets are as capable as bonded lead core bullets, I have seen nothing that shows that a .270 (or any other cartridge) becomes more capable than it would be because mono bullets are used. That is exactly what I said when this thread...

I wouldn't use one on a cape buffalo OR a rhino!

    Knife value?

It's pretty clearly a claw. Think of a house cat's teeth and claws and multiply it by about 50 times. Feline teeth are for biting, claws are for clinging. Cheetahs are a little different but In general that's how cat anatomy works.

    .270win and lead free ammunition

Now this I can believe. It makes a lot more sense than just a belief that switching to copper bullets will make a rifle more lethal. Sometimes they work well and other times lead is still better. Maybe I would have had better results with copper bullets if I had gone through the intensive...

Good. Now did you recover the bullet? Had it expanded? I have read many accounts of mono bullets failing to expand on long shots.

And yet a study done it n.humans that ate a lot of game shot with lead bullets and bird shot did not show higher concentrations of lead in their blood streams than did those that did not eat game meat. I think of my grandparents that all ate game for their entire lives. They all died as old...

I also have many animals killed quite dead with lead based bullets. At which point did mono bullets become more effective than lead based bullets? That was the original question. I stirred up the shit storm by saying that I didn't think an all all copper bullet would make a .270 more capable...

I also had good luck with Partitions on my first safari. 180 grains out of a .30-06.
