Federal Woodleigh Hydro in .375 on trapped hog. Video is not for the squeamish but, as you can see, the solid penetrated and killed the hog very quickly.
Federal Woodleigh Hydro in .416 on bull elephant. The video on this one speaks for itself.
Federal Woodleigh Hydros in both .375 and .416 have been solid performers for me. They are presently discontinued, however. I'll post a video or two when time permits.
I got lucky on bushbuck, impala, and kudu (all on State land) but had to hunt for them. I was luckier than my companions who shot hippo (2), bushpig, and baboon. The elephant are plentiful as are hippo and croc, but the plains game are scarce and should be viewed as lagniappe.
I would consider myself lucky that one so similar became available, order it and stare at it daily recounting the hunt, and to hell with what anyone else thought.
Some of these I've saved more for the poses and habitat than the workmanship. I am not a taxidermist, but merely a lover of fine taxidermy. I've oftentimes had taxidermists ask as I'm critiquing their work, "Have you ever mounted a leopard?", and my response is always the same. I tell them...
I know I’ve posted the Schulte mount before, but I’m not sure it’s gotten the recognition it deserves. It would be hard to go wrong with either of these gents.
