    Understanding The Barnes TSX Controversy

I agree and have some experience/experimenting with Barnes bullets. I believe Barnes need speed to expand and a lot of it. I shoot the 110 grain TTSX out of my '06 at 3500 fps. I have shot a couple hundred whitetails and cow elk with this and it works great. I am pretty sure they are...

    Plains Game Ammo

I did a bullet test several years ago and shot a lot of wildes. The 180 grain Scirocco was the best killer out of 8 bullets tested. I would shoot 5 with each bullet, record the results and then start over.

30-06 Rifle for Plains Game - How Big?

I have culled a lot of animals in Africa with the 30-06. Last trip was to Namibia during a terrible drought. Average shots were 250-350 yards due to barren ground. Shot a lot of zebra, gemsbok, wildes on that trip. All with 180 grain pills. Sierra Pro Hunters and Swift Sciroccos are very...

    The 308, 30-06, 7x57 Conundrum

I have shot a lot of zebras, wildes, gemsbok, etc... as part of culling programs. I use 180 grain Swift Scirocco, A-frames and Sierra Pro Hunters. I use H4350 with all bullets. About 1 grain less for the Swifts to achieve same velocity. All running 2825-2850 fps out of 24" Pacnor barrel...

    Barnes TSX review

Not much to add to this discussion. I shoot a lot of cull deer and elk here in Texas. Typically donating the meat to disadvantaged groups. The last thing I need to do is track animals. About 10 years ago, I started loading 110 grain TTSX in my 30-06. 24" Pacnor barrel, 1/10 twist. At 3550...

    Hodgdon H4350

I have used lots of powders over the years. Tried many combinations for the 30/06. For temp stability, accuracy and ease of use, H4350 is my go to powder. It works great with 150, 168, 180, 200 grain pills.

    Rolex- the stupidest, lamest company

Just now seeing this. I have owned the brand for over 30 years. In the 80's and 90's, I could buy the traditional stainless/gold for $1500 to $2000. I bought and wore used Presidents for $5000. They were much less expensive in those days and used hollow bracelets and less robust cases. In...

    Handgun for wolf protection

Live in the NF south of where the wolves were released. We have our grown children, relatives and guests here throughout the year hiking. We have a lot of mountain lions, black bears, elk and moose. All run away as soon as contact is made. Anyone hiking in Colorado is much more likely to get...

Custom Left Hand .458 Lott Build - Opinions

I went thru this same process and chose a left hand GMA action, Pacnor barrel, exhibition grade Turkish walnut, express sights, Smithson rings with quick release, etc... I had Todd Ramirez build mine. He was fairly close to me and I was able to go out several times for fittings, final adjustments.

For Sale Frederick Beesley Left-hand 416 Rigby With Scope

Ok, time to revive this offering. It is a great rifle. Why hasn't it sold? A combination of things I think. I listed it during a robust flu season that was going around the world. No one was traveling or thinking about going to Africa. So maybe a bad time to list. Also, a very limited...
