Thinking about a .300 win mag

Thanks for the info, Bob. Wow! 4,000 ft/lbs. Of energy, that's a big wallop on just about anything. Especially here in North America. That should be more than enough for Eland or, for that matter, anything I'm going to hunt. I'll have to do some research on how much a new barrel will cost...

Thinking about a .300 win mag

I haven't heard enough about the 35 Whelen to have an educated opinion about it. Is it basically a necked-up 06 case?

My 06 is an older Savage 110. I got a good deal on it. It shoots real well.

SOUTH AFRICA: TERMINATOR 10 Day Group Hunt with KMG Hunting Safaris in East Cape RSA July 25-August 5

What a great "after-action" report. I almost felt I was there with you and the rest of your party. Awesome animals! Especially the Impala and Kudu Bull. I can't wait to read about the rest of the hunt.

SOUTH AFRICA: KoringKoppie Hunting Safaris *Warning* Stay Away

I don't usually post because I'm new on this site. However, I appreciate your post. I'm planning my hunt for 2026. I have been talking to outfitters from whom I can get reviews. I'm sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience, especially with your girlfriend being with you.
