How about bird flu? I have no doubt that wild pheasant were decimated in the east by it in the late 70’s. One year they were abundant next two or three years gone.
@buck wild This was one of my Colorado Rios two years ago a triple beard. For some reason I am lucky on multiple beard gobblers, Rio triple, Eastern double and this year Osceola double.
Most of the states I hunt turkey in have delayed starts to allow mating. I actually like it. Many of the hens are bred and working their nest. The gobblers are on the “roam” early in the day and looking for action. Less competition from real hens helps.
@RLD, Agree. Turkey and dove hunting some of the best medicine for getting new hunters started. Nothing better than a gobbler calling, strutting in for the shot. Good luck
@schmijar, you are correct, the TSS shells are a game changer. The 410 with TSS and a good choke is no joke great for kids and adults. The youngster in my group picture shot his long beard with this combo.
@Hunt anything, our lease is part of the Deseret Ranch in Central Florida which is owned by the Mormon Church. The total ranch is 300K acres but our hunt club is 6,000 acres. Deseret Ranch is extremely well run mostly cattle and hunting leases.
