I'm leaving for Argentina in 2 days and ready to go! I will be hunting free range red stag and black buck with Los Molles in La Pampa. It's my first time to Argentina but I have been trying to get there since before Covid. I'm excited to see some big country, eat some good asado and make some new friends.

My friend took this one free range there. I would obviously be thrilled with anything close to that!

subbed! good luck over there

Thanks. I will be writing a hunt report to share here.

I hope that you have lots of extra days for sightseeing.

Interesting subject on having extra days...it's the one thing I don't do on every trip that I wish was different but it isn't very practical. Running a very full business schedule, anytime I take off has to be covered somehow. The more I take off, the more that has to be covered. So I work even more before and after each trip to make that happen. It's not ideal but it works out as long as the trips don't get too long. First world problems of owning your own business and being very active outside of work as well.

Everyone wants more time, but it isn’t always possible. Enjoy your hunt and hopefully you won’t be buried at work once you return. I hope you get a chance at a stag close to your friend’s! Looks like one of the nicest free-range stags I have seen in a while.

Wishing you safe travels and good hunting. Will you be taking your own rifle or renting one from the outfitter? Looking forward to reading the hunt report.

Thanks. I wish I was taking a rifle but Argentina doesn't have a good streamlined process like South Africa. I'm not aware of any company offering something like our sponsor Rifle Permits.com in Argentina. I am told that bringing in your own gun can add many hours and possible missed flights. I think someone needs to setup a good gun permitting process business in Argentina.

So, we are using camp rifles that sound like model 70's in 7mm or 300 win mag with good scopes. 375s are available for water buffalo. I'm told most shots are under 100 for stag and under 200 for blackbuck.

In Texas we call it Asada, with an A at the end. Every time I say asado to my waitress, she gets mad at me

Best of luck. I saw another big cat 2 weeks ago o_O

Enjoy it and have fun.

Enjoy! Wmh!

Yea, Spanish in Argentina, Spain, etc is a bit different.

Big cats!!! Can't wait to join you sometime.

Safe travels and straight shooting! Look forward to the report and pictures.

While you are in Buenos Aries, go here:

@SFRanger7GP turned me onto Estilo Campo.. Ive eaten at numerous top rated Argentinian steak houses.. La Brigada, Don Julio, Nuestro Secreto, etc.. and thought I had eaten the best beef dishes in the world...

Estilo Campo destroyed my prior assessment.. I had only eaten at some really great places earlier..

Its a full 20%+ less expensive than some of the other, more famous steakhouses.. and actually nicer and has better ambiance than some of the more famous, top rated steak houses..

Not only are the steaks absolutely incredible.. all of the sides, appetizers, deserts, etc are absolutely out of this world..

If you miss it, you will regret it for the rest of your life, and the terrorists will have won! :)

Dave that sounds fantastic. It might have to be on a future trip as I land in the morning and catch the charter out to the ranch...which brings me back in time for my exit flight. How far is it from the airport?

From the international airport its about a 30 minute drive I'd guess.. and that's if you're arriving at a time that traffic isn't super bad (if you're coming into BA during the morning or afternoon rush hour, you can add a pretty significant amount of time to that)..

I need to follow you there sometime...one of these days when we hunt together.

Good luck! This is about the peak of the roar I believe? Look forward to your report. They do have big cats down there as well, perhaps you’ll get a chance at one.
