    We are officially booked!

We are staying at Elephant Hills north of town by the golf course. Can we walk along the river into town and below the falls? Do we need to be wary of critter encounters that could be sketchy?

Dall was always on my list. But, now it’s insane what a hunt costs. It may be unattainable now. I’ve been to Alaska for a week long ride around, camp & fish.

    Big bore recoil

Thanks, Everyone!!!! Appreciate all the tips. I’ve never been recoil shy. The question was more about what to expect. I have decided to use the large bore for part of my hunt. Also, I have been doing a bunch of reading and had some info mixed up. The outfitter has .458 Win Mag not the Lott...

    Big bore recoil

Might be a bit much for springbok, Impala, warthog & wildebeest. Although, I may decide to take a zebra.

    Big bore recoil

Hello, Folks I grew up whitetail hunting here in Wisconsin. I used a 12ga with 3” mag slugs for decades. How much more recoil does let’s say .458Lott have than that? I have never shot a big bore rifle, but I am going to ask my PH if he will let me fire his. I’ll pay him for the ammo. At 54...

SOUTH AFRICA: Has Anyone Hunted With Chivic African Safaris?

Any one have personal experience with these folks? Out of Hoedspruit, Limpopo, SA. Christo Joubert is the owner / PH. I am close to booking with these folks and so far they seem like great folks. I guess I'm just doing a little do diligence on my first hunt out of my home country, USA.

Great stuff guys. Thanks. And y’all can fight my wife over the curling iron. I’ve learned which battles to fight.

    Covid requirements

I may be one of those who said, I’m taking my rifle. Not because it’s hard but because I don’t trust other people. I have no issues with borrowing a rifle from the outfitter, no fees btw. I also started this thread about Covid. However, being afraid is not me. I am coming to SA June of 23. This...

    Covid requirements

First of all, I’m so tired of this crap as I’m sure most are. And, travel requirements are starting to change so who knows what they will be at any given time other than at this moment. At this moment is all I’m asking about. We are planning a hunt in SA. At the end of the hunt we want to see...

South Africa Outfitters and rifle rental

I simply look at what I’ve invested in my rifles. Having them bounce around the world earning frequent flier miles doesn’t do much for me, especially considering who’s going to have access to it and handle it. I’d rather spend a couple hundred bucks and leave mine stateside safe & sound. Now...

South Africa Outfitters and rifle rental

Hello, Are Outfitters who offer rifle rental uncommon? I do not want to bring my rifle with me. In looking at a large number of websites not many mention rifle rental. Are they simply not advertising that option?

Well, I get that but by the time you pay a trophy fee, dip/ship, taxidermy, etc it’s a minimum $1k per animal added. We just want the experience of hunting Africa and my trophy room in our small house really doesn’t have much more room.

After reading some of the check lists and associated undisclosed costs, a hunt seems less attainable. Man, I wasn’t thinking about any of that stuff just to head to SA to shoot a few animals. Guess I have way more homework than I thought.

Hello All I’m a new member here from Wisconsin, USA. This forum was recommended by a PH as good starting point for researching African Hunts and getting questions answered as well as pointers and advice. I’ve wanted to hunt a few African species for a long time and I’m hoping to get my wife and...
