    Anyone have a CZ 527 7x62x39?

I’ve had one for about 10 years. Great little rifles. Accurate, good trigger and very well made. If you buy one, have James Calhoon.com modify the bolt handle for better scope clearance. He does nice work and it allows the scope to be mounted much lower. The Ruger American Ranch 300 Blk is...

New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

I had an hour open at lunch after some other range work today so I tried the S&B 175gr Nosler Partitions and S&B 139gr RN SP. 50 yards, open sights off the bench. Target was the same size as the front sight bead. 98 degrees today in Orlando with serious humidity so my focus was not great, but...

New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

Agreed on the power and aesthetics, but as I get older and my eyes age, I find having 10x-12x is nice for range/zeroing work. Never shot a critter with more than 6x though. Anything more than that off sticks was a liability for me when I finally had a chance to hunt RSA.

New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

I was fortunate enough to get one of the Ruger 77 Africans in 275 Rigby. I'm thrilled to see Ruger build such a classic, interesting rifle in a market full of synthetic, long-range super guns! Haven't been this excited about a rifle since I got my Boddington No 1's in 7x57 and 300 H&H...

Anyone hunted with Sellier & Bellot 7x57 Mauser 173 gr SPCE (Soft Point Cutting Edge)?

Rookhawk, PM me with your contact and I can get you the info, prices etc. We have it at our warehouse in MN and I think there's an open case we can sell boxes from. I just bought a case for personal use. I like to stock up once I find a load that works in my rifle.

    Ruger no.1 range report

Thanks for all the input. Still not sure what what to do for a scope on the 300 H&H. Had to give the project a rest during hunt season. Took a nice MT mule deer with my 7x57 Boddington w/ Leupold 1.5-5 2 weeks ago. One round at 215 yds. 175gr Partition. That combo just plain kills stuff.

Anyone hunted with Sellier & Bellot 7x57 Mauser 173 gr SPCE (Soft Point Cutting Edge)?

I keep coming back to the Nosler 175gr Part out of my No 1 Boddington in 7x57. There may be fancier bullets, but it's MoA accurate from my rifle and just plain kills stuff when put in the right place. MT mule deer shot at 215 yards. One round into the shoulder quartering toward me, DRT.

    Ruger no.1 range report

Thanks for the reply guys. Yes, they're addictive rifles. I'm also have the 7x57 w/ 1.5-5 Leupold. Headed to MT next week to chase mule deer with it. Have to decide on a scope for the 300 H&H then I'll post a range report.

Anyone hunted with Sellier & Bellot 7x57 Mauser 173 gr SPCE (Soft Point Cutting Edge)?

vette447, The Nosler load is best out of my Ruger. Good stuff. I just started bringing those loads into the US, so the website may be a little behind. Check them out on our int'l S&B site. http://www.sellier-bellot.cz/ I don't know who has them in stock now, but I'll get on it Monday for...

Anyone hunted with Sellier & Bellot 7x57 Mauser 173 gr SPCE (Soft Point Cutting Edge)?

vette447, Full disclosure: I am one of the sales managers at Magtech USA. CBC/Magtech owns S&B. 7x57 is one of my favorite calibers. (Ruger No 1 Boddington). While everyone has their favorite brand, caliber, bullet, etc, I take issue with the above comments regarding our quality. Of...

    Leupold VX6 on Boddington Kudu

Great looking rifle. I have a No 1 Boddington 7x57 and I'm in the process of mounting a scope. I'd like to get it mounted as low as possible, but as you say the tall rear sight complicates things somewhat. Can you describe your rear sight removal process? It looks like you do things...

    Hello from Florida

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm out of the Orlando area. I have a PG hunt planned for 2015 with some veteran African hunt veteran friends. The research, planning and gear-gathering are half the fun! Chasing tarpon now, but my mind is on African hunting.
