Any love or Hate for the .458

If you can get excellent 2nd 3rd shot off hand go for it, otherwise 375 is a better all around choice.

But you have the R8 therefore only one rifle and spare change… One of the best things about these mechanical watches is how they can be bright back from the dead. Spoke with Bill at Swift Bullets yesterday

What I conclude is that if Swift doesn't get his act together he will be out of business. Too many other bullets are available that are just as good. Could Swift be having a problem to find workers? Sure. Can they be fixed? Also, sure. Hall, Working at Swift is so much better (I imagine) than...

    Boeing Aircraft

You don't know how wrong you are but I'm tired of you. Fighter pilots certainly don't fly alone, not even in a one seater. And they experience emergency situations far more than any commercial pilot other than say bush pilots, and know how to deal with them. The 25 yo pilot on my Embraer not so...

I don’t recall all your warnings when the forums discuss using foreign airlines - Ethiad, Qatar, etc when flying with guns. Shouldn’t you post a warning? I mean they are seriously disadvantaged pilots in training and experience. Sorry chief, didn’t happen according to the FAA and NTSB. Best...

    Making my way to irons

I maintain iron sights on my R8 barrels just cuz, that said I have a Blaser red dot that works great as well as an EOS holographic sight that corrects for parallax - the dot can be anywhere in the window and the dot is still the target. Also the .75 X 6 Z8 also helps greatly with corrected...

One gun or two? On safari

Decide what you can't kill with a 375 along your PH for backup in a tough spot. Then you know if you need a different caliber. For me that answer is never in Africa. 300WM and 7mmRM for when I really have to reach out there, although I never shoot pass 200 yards in the field anymore. So it's...

    Back country carry gun

I had the chance years ago to talk to Herr Glock. He fully admitted there is no safety in the the Glock pistol. Glock does in fact offer safeties on some. I prefer on true DA/SA decockers over safeties. My R8 decocks for safety. Having any part of the firing mechanism under tension puts the gun...

    Travel duffle bags

For years I used RedOxx duffles for hunting and business. Getting on and off Navy ships and subs where an empty suitcase would be the enemy, they were excellent. At the time we were carrying tons of technical kit in pelicans and zeros. Also about perfect. Then along came wheeled luggage and...

    New custom rifle questions

I think the situation speaks for itself. Yes, of course this might all work out fine. But why pick a Fierce for a DG rifle in the first place? I think this is first I've heard of them on this board. And the mounting of the scope suggests someone doesn't understand the purpose of a DG rifle...

    Recommended Ammo for .375 H&H?

First, good on you for sticking with the 375 for PG. this will have long term benefits. I prefer and stick to only AFrame and CEB. Check the custom loaders, they may have what you cannot get. That said the TSX will do whatever want on PG as well

Back in the Blaser R8 Family

Grasshopper - You have no idea my background or who I've worked for. My experience is much more than a casual observer. I never compared Boeing and Airbus. I did quote an article. The 1250 lost Max orders comes from Boeing as does the shift from MAX to other variants. Your gripe is not with...

So you read minds now? I fly up front about 4 flights a week. I know what we talk about. I’ve got 3M miles on both United and American, each. And no US pilot solved the problem in the simulator. Despite being given more altitude and less speed to begin with. The ones that stuck to the manual...

I was on eight flights in the past ten days. Pilots, FAs and all of up front were openly discussing our various boycotts of Boeing hardware other than 757/767/747. Boeing was once great. I remember “Boeing or I’m not going.” The Boeing system that caused the crashes was improperly designed...
