I am working on finalizing a load for my 280AI M70.

The .375 H&H and 30-'06 seem like a great combination to me. Next trip I'll take my 308 Norma Mag and either my 404 or my 375 - which I think has much more flexibility than a 40+ caliber rifle. Eland can be big and when push came to shove I used my 404J and not my 7mm RM.

I once owned a number of target guns with screw-in chokes and had to trouble with them coming loose. I no longer own any screw chiked guns, so one wory is eliminated. For anti-seize, wouldn't a sizing die wax work well? I've found it useful with a number of threaded fittings... and for lubing...

I used to hunt with Zeiss 10 X 40 binos and a spotting scope. I have ditched the spotting scope for a Pair of tripod mounted Swaro 15 X 56 SLCs. as WAB says - they are far less tiring and meet my needs. Still carry the Zeiss glasses around my neck for quick glassing and IDing objects in the field.

I like the VV powders - they make both single and double based powders. I expect you could find a good substitute with their N5XX series of powders. I use both N150 and N560 in various applications. They are flexible powders.

The 400 H&H is in the same class as the 404 Jeff, If I didn't have the 404, I'd look at a 400 H&H. Brass may be a problem, though.

I have three New Haven M70 Classics, including a .375 H&H Safari Classic. Excellent rifle, which can be bought at less than $2K. Best deal going and accurate and reliable.

I like 1" scopes. The best one I have is a S&B Summit - 2.5-10 X 40. Crystal clear, tracks properly, rugged. I have several Swarovskis, which also very good. Ordered a Tract Toric 3-15 X 42mm a 1" scope - promising but it arrives tomorrow, so nothing to report.

I built my 404J on a magnum Mauser action, but I think a Winchester Model 70 with the 'long' action for the 375 H&H would work just fine... my 375 rounds (which I use in my 375 "Safari Classic') are just a tiny bit longer than my 404J hunting rounds.

This is a good deal on a fine rifle. I have an M70 Classic in 375H&H, 308 Morma, and 280AI. Great CRF hunting rifles.

I have had Aaron Little of Mineola do an M70 for me and was pleased. He is now restocking a Model 70 on .375 H&H for me.

Some makers prefer Bastogne walnut for big bores. I like “English” walnut, and it works well if the layout is correct. I like guns to be light enough to carry, but heavy enough to help with felt recoil. The 375 H&H recoil is not bad compared to a big bore rifle caliber - - like a 416 or 450.

The Swift A Frame is superior.
