One cartridge to hunt dangerous game for the rest of your life and it can't be a 375, what are you going with?

Okay, if someone is taking my .375, he will darn well replace it & it'll cost him! He'll supply me with a nice double .450-400 3" and enough components to last me two years. ;)

    .375 h&h for whitetails

Actually, the .375 doesn't tear up meat as some calibers do. It destroys very little meat especially if normal bullets are used like 270 & 300 grain bullets. Then there's the factor of using the rifle you'll use on really big game. A person once asked me why I was using a .375, I told him with...

How many people have a 35 whelen?

I have also heard there is so little shoulder on the .375 Whelen that headspace can be a problem?

    .375 h&h for whitetails

In a 4 year old thread, I will say I’ve shot several Blacktail deer with a .375, mostly with the old Hornaday 270gr RN over a fairly healthy charge of WW760. That load averaged just under 2700fps. I never recovered a bullet, & one was facing me at 70yds, impact was just below the chin on the...

Best .45 ACP round for black bear protection

Thank you all for your input, I have learned how wonderful the 10mm is. Since we have gotten off the original question anyway, I'll throw in something else, if you are in a deadly confrontation where the bear makes contact, you can jam a revolver into your opponent and it will still fire. Most...

    Stoeger Coach

You’ve failed to consider the home defense shotgun, the one taken on your elk hunt in grizzly country kept in your tent or camper just in case, and the just plain fun gun for squirrels up close. Personally, I find a youth model 11-87 20ga, with a longer stock, screw in choke, to be a lot of fun.

RJ Renner "Old Africa" Model 70 Upgrade

My suggestion is, you already question RJs theory. If I had ANY reservations about how it would fit after customizing it, I'd select another smith or tell him you don't want it his way. A Smith who builds your style rifle could probably be found.

    Another Poor Man’s Double

I think the case length of the .45-70 is 2.105. Some maybe Sharps, called it the .45-1/10.
