Ya this is quite the throwback thread….both of those rifles look quite different these days. The 375 has hunted quite a bit and the 458 is prepped and ready for Zimbabwe in a few months.

My 375 wears a Swaro Z6i 1-6 with the CDI reticle. It replaced a Leupold Euro30 1.25-4 with a German 4. The difference in glass was incredible. I find the magnification range to be just about perfect for the cartridge and I've found it adaptable to ranges between 10 and 300 yards on animals...

An excellent trip with your boys! My 6 year old will be traveling with me as soon as he can tolerate a long plane flight. He was at the range with me this morning shooting his .22.

You should not take any additional advise from this individual related to reloading. Nor would I be within shrapnel range when he's shooting.

Tagging onto this one. I've a hippo allotted for May, should our elephant hunts be successful early, and I'd much prefer to hunt them on land vs thin the water.

Arjun is a great guy. I have a set of GunStix, as well. I've been practicing off them quite a bit lately (along with offhand) for an upcoming hunt. I find them much more stable than standard tripod sticks.

I heard back from Matrix last week. They had some staffing rearranged due to illness. They have been fantastically communicative this past week. My rifle is in the mail and will be delivered to them tomorrow for their Upgrade 2.

A member of my SCI chapter tried to obtain one in 2018 but was unsuccessful at that time. I do not have any more recent data.

I put my name on the list for an upgrade 2 in February 2022. I was quoted roughly August 2022 for them to request I send my rifle. I have not had a request from Matrix yet.

Both buffalo from my 2017 hunt dropped in their tracks from inadvertant high shoulder shots. All three animals on that hunt I pulled too high up the front shoulder.

A number 2 upgrade is not depicted in those photos. That would include the 3 position safety as well as Wayne’s trigger (which sits further back in the trigger guard). It does appear to have had the sights and barrel band swivel added, as well as the bolt handle filled and straightened.

Sling on my PG rifles. I prefer the Montana sling, 1.25". I carry on my right shoulder with a set of bino's cross body in a RYO sling (sitting on my left hip). With a cartridge carrier on my right hip, I can tuck the slung rifle behind the cartridge carrier and essentially go hands free...

Quality of the plaques as well as the method of attachment (a deck screw through the skull) turned me off versus the work I had done on the two Buffalo and blue wildebeest mounts I had done locally.

Received my euro's and zebra rug from South Africa a few months ago. My office is quickly filling up. Went with a taxidermist in RSA for the work and found the quality definitely less than what I've received from my taxidermist here in the states. Price was great, but quality was commensurate.

the 470/500's I was using 70.0gr RL-15 over a Fed 215 in a Hornady case. No pressure signs and didn't bring a chrono with me. This came from data published by CEB upon request through their info email address.

I had a slight hang up coming off of the left rail. I had similar with any other 500gr conventional bullets (Hornady). The guns heading to Matrix Gunsmithing (took over for AHR for CZ upgrades) for an Upgrade 2. I’ll be sending dummy cartridges for feeding confirmation when it goes.
