An older version Ruger Alaskan in 416 Ruger. Used the Alaskan Arms quick release scope rings, and magazine drop plate. Very nice pieces, fit is perfect, and shipping is quick.

I've booked a hunt for 2025 with Luke Romano at Monarch New Zealand. My wife is going for Tahr and Chamois. First time there, but heard a lot of good things about them, and met him personally this year at DSC in Dallas. Reasonable pricing, and all walk in hunting without helicopter.

I've taken a large mule deer in Idaho, and a 7x6 elk in Utah with the 200 grain ELDX in 300 WM. The mule deer was 235 yards, and the elk was 197 yards. Both were 1 shot and straight down. High shoulder shots. Worked great for me.

I've posted this previously. Ruger No 1 in 458 Lott my son used on a bison hunt a few years ago. Great rifle and cartridge. Also have a 375 H&H in stainless/laminate, and a 450/400 in blue/wood. Great rifles.

I have two: one rebored to 35 Whelen and the other rebored/chambered to the 9.3x62. Both were done by JES. They both shoot lights out, and are quick on follow-up shots.

I stayed at the Afton House on my last trip. And used their rifle service to clear my guns into SA. Reasonably priced, good food, and friendly

I've used 200 grain bullets in 300 WM on elk; Nosler Accubond and Partitions. Worked great every time. One shot kills and didn't travel far. Also used 200 grain Hornady ELDX on large mule deer. Same results.

I like the Alaskan better purely from a handling and functional standpoint. Shorter, stockier barrel handles great for me for hunting in deep woods of the Northeast, and thick brush and swamps of Florida where I live. But, the African is a much nicer fit and finish rifle. To each his own.

9.3x62. I've used it for black bears, wild boars, deer, and my only African Safari for plains game (so far). All one shot and down. Very versatile cartridge.
