Getting a large crate shipped or put in to storage

I am in a bit of a quandary. I have a very large crate waiting in Atlanta to be delivered to my current house in South Carolina, but it is too large and heavy for a standard delivery truck. It is 8'x6'x5' (LxWxH) and almost 700 lbs. Coppersmith currently has it at their warehouse. I tried to...

    Flight booking services

I don't normally use a service to book flights but I will need to this summer to get to Tanzania. I spoke with Travel Express and Gracy Travel at the SCI convention and both seem reasonable. Does anyone have a recommnedation of one over the other or any positive or negative reviews of either...

SOUTH AFRICA: Another Two Day Safari With Lloyd Safaris In Mpumalanga South Africa

Had another 75 hour layover in Johannesburg so I contacted Stephan Cloete of Lloyd safaris and he set me up on another great two day safari. This trips goals were a yellow blesbuck, caracal, and jackal. Stef was busy harvesting his crops and getting tractors unstuck from the mud so this time I...

SOUTH AFRICA: 2 Day Safari With Lloyd Safaris In Mpumalanga

Having become a frequent traveler to Johannesburg and getting some time off there had me itching to get out in the veldt. I met Stephan Cloete of Lloyd Safaris at SCI 2022 and mentioned this to him and he said to give him a call when I was going to be around and that he could accommodate me on...

How did the Texas exotics animals fare in the Arctic blast

Just wondering if anyone in the industry has an idea on the scope of the losses? I heard about one ranch that lost a hundred or more blue wildebeest. Gizmo, how did your critters make out?

    Christmas came a week early!

Got my trophies from my 2019 safari back. Thought we be moved into a new and bigger house by now but life intervened. Here are some pictures. The sable is from my second trip and now he has company. The black and blue on the wall are from 1st safari. 2nd blue is bigger than I remember...

Euro mounts from 2019 safari are in

Got my skulls plus the kudu horn pickup back from the taxidermist. The difference in the pig skulls is interesting. The bush pig nasal area has lots of cauliflower looking areas that I would presume increase his olfactory senses. The zebra skull looks much different than I imagined and to me...

What is your caliber choice for the tiny 10?

Next time I head to Africa I plan on going after a lot of the smaller antelope. Grysbok, blue duiker, etc. What would be the best caliber choice to go after these little guys? Is the .22-250 too fast? Is the .223 just about right? Looking for opinions and experiences.

SOUTH AFRICA: 10 Day Northern Cape Safari

I'm on day 9 of a 10 day safari and after 8 days of sunny 78 degree temperatures we got a morning of heavy wind and rain rolling through so I thought I'd take a moment and give a quick report. Travel: DAl 200 ATL-JNB. 14.5 hours. No drama. JNB: I have a large wheeled duffel bag that made it...

    Extra insurance for firearms

Has anyone purchased extra insurance? I have quite an expensive setup in my Blaser and the airline will only cover up to $5000. I have Global Rescue Travel insurance but it doesn't seem to cover more than $2500 for luggage. Anybody ever have an issue while travelling with expensive firearms?

What does good taxidermy look like?

I just got my trophies from South Africa and I'm not sure if the quality is what I was expecting. Could I get some examples of good and poor stitching on the backs of shoulder mounts? Some of mine look lousy and I want to know if I'm being too exacting on the finishing. I don't have a lot of...
