Anyone here tried it? Ive used RL15,16, and 17, and still have 15 and 16, but looking at different things.
Ive got about 4 lbs of RL25 that I would trade for some 17 lol
I want some to play around with, making reduced loads for my lady to shoot. Any of you sitting on some you won't be using?
PS: I also need some more RL17
Thanks!
I want one to go with my. 375, but non are for sale. So I'm mainly interested in your load work.
I've heard the .416 Ruger has to be twisted up to max pressure to match the other. 416's. So I'm definitely interested in both 20" and 23" load data.
So let's discuss the lesser loved of the Ruger...
We all know, mono bullets of lighter weight will penetrate the same as a heavier lead bullet, because they don't shed weight. But 250/260 grains, I believe is more to satisfy velocity nuts.
So, I did some calculations. Barnes bullets generally gain .001 in BC for every grain of bullet weight...
Just do not need it, and trying to trade it came up bust. There is a pistol I'm eyeing and this way keeps the wife happy.
The stock shows marks, but overall it's in great condition. Round count is unknown, as I got it in a trade.

I do mean NEED, not "I have 5000, and want those too", NEED. A friend of mine started trading some components with me, and he has 100 pieces of of new brass, never sized. I'll get a price from him tomorrow.
Thanks
It was used for two shots from my .300 RUM. First shot, it was lost for two days. Second shot, lost for two months. The rust is from the screw heads. I knew nothing about clamp brakes, and didn't notice it was compressed as far as it could be on my barrel. I replaced it with a Witt Machine...
Those of you that have them, what kind of performance are you getting with it? I've heard, unlike it's older brother, it has to be ran at crazy high pressure to match it's intended/inspiration cartridge.
I would love to hear from 20" and 23" users.
Thanks!
My PH has me going out and firing one or two rounds each day at different distances. Today, I filled a 32oz Powerade bottle with water. I walked around my house and jogged back to my 30 yard mark, aim and fired. I actually hit it!

It just doesn't fit me enough to feel comfortable on the .375. So since I went to the trouble of bedding it, adding a real crossbolt and the Hogue red pad, I put it on my .300 Win Mag. So the uncomfortable fit is still uncomfortable, but the recoil level isn't high enough to be painful. I think...
I don't need two of them any longer. I'd like something different. A .416 Ruger maybe ? A heavy barrel rifle to play with in .260, 7-08 etc....maybe a WSM or a Mossberg 590 A1, or the 930 SPX....I love pistols too. Just figured I'd put this up and see if something tickles my fancy.
It is a...
I will be practicing, two shots at a time with my .375 Ruger, to get ready for Buffalo hunting. Yesterday I stuck a foam plate on a piece of cardboard as a target. I stood at 30 yards, fired, quick reload and fired again. My first shot hit center. I'll keep doing this until my two shots are...
Just looking for some variety. I'd like to have some 350gr Weldcores, 250/270gr A-Frames, 235/270 TSX. Just let me know what you have if you want to do some trading.
Thanks!
The previous owner of my Ruger African had the barrel and action Cerakoted in "Stainless", so it looks similar to the newer Alaskans. He didn't do the bottom metal, and I want to get it done.
So I figured I'd ask if any AH members do it, and give business to them.
The factory cross bolt in the Ruger African, is just a skinny screw that fits loosely....aka useless.
My stock had a small crack over where the screw is at the recoil lug. As soon as I started lowering the drill press, the wood chunk popped out.
I was planning to bed it with epoxy to take...
I wonder if anyone has ever tried necking the .450 Marlin down to .375" ? Seems like that would be one awesome lever gun to have. Performance wise, it would be on par with the .376 Steyr, and using Hornady's 300 DGX would prevent problems in the mag tube.
Now that I've got my Buffalo load perfected, I'm going to try some reduced loads.
The Sierra app says 77.1gr of RL22 gives 2470 fps with a 300gr Gameking. So, my test loads are using Reloader 25.
75gr with a 300gr GK
75gr with a 300gr TSX
77.7gr with a 270 Interlock
My "guess" is the 300...
What holds the front sight in place? After shooting a few across the chrono today, I noticed the insert on the front sight was slid almost completely out. What's an easy way to fix it?
Thanks!
I'm having my .375 Alaskan rebarreled with a 27" 1:10 twist in .375. That was the original plan, but my Smith asked me if I wanted to go .416, since I could use all my 375 brass still.
Personally I don't think the extra energy of the .416 Ruger, will overshadow the versatile nature of the .375...
Drove out and met up with @TNDave today, and did some horse trading. I was able to get the Reloader 16 & 17 that I've been needing, as well as some 6.5 bullets for my wife's rifle. Super nice guy, and I would recommend dealing with him to anyone.
Thanks again David!
I got my hands on the bullet I wanted from the start, the 300 grain Peregrine VRG-3.
Anyone loaded these ? I was told they have less friction than a Barnes.
Sure are Purdy
I loaded up six rounds, same as I used to test my Alaskan before. 300 grain TSX over 69gr of RL15. You gain 22.6 fps per inch.
African - 2442
Alaskan - 2374
I'm pretty sick, that I traded for an African to gain 68 fps
Its the fastest listed powder for a Nosler 300gr, so I decided to try it with the Barnes TSX. Eve at 78 grains, I cant get the bullet seated to 3.30, it keeps pushing back out. 3.345 is the shortest I can get it to stay. Funny though, because you can still hear the powder shake inside. Yet...
I've never been able to find anyone who has compared the two side by side.
Well, Saturday I'm trading my Long Range rifle for a Ruger African, thats been Cerakoted. So I now own the Alaskan and African, and I will be doing chrono testing the first day, and I will post all the data here.
Wish I...
My wife "helped" me put my brass away, back before I was setup to reload again. Now I have 60 pieces misplaced lol So I need a few to work with until I find the others.
I've got about $1700 stuck back. So which reloading kit, and I don't need no progressive crap, I'm not lazy.
Lee Anniversary Kit
HORNADY Lock n Load Classic

I really want a digital scale. So help me!
I need dies for .300 Win Mag, .375 Ruger, 7mm-08. And 6.5 Crapmoor, as...
Seems like the payoff would be worth it. Take out both shoulders and the heart at the same time.
You guys tell me why you do use solids or why you don't use solids. There are no multiple tiers of dead.
:)
I've been talking to Barnes, and I asked about loaded ammo for the .375 Ruger. They asked me if anyone else would want it. So I will make this a poll. Seeing that I haven't been able to get back to reloading yet, I would appreciate something other than Hornady ammo.
