Hides will last a long time if the field prep is good and they are properly salted. Nothing to worry about if the outfitter holds up their end with initial prep.
I use these in the UK - https://www.sellier-bellot.cz/en/products/rifle-ammunition/rifle-ammunition-with-exergy-blue-bullets/detail/622/ for our 6 deer species (Reg stag being the largest)
He was a buck I have known about for several years and had evaded myself and a few friends I’ve tried to get into him. Eventually, his luck ran out and I caught with a doe towards the end of the rut who had him distracted.
I wouldn’t call Beceite ibex a physically challenging hunt in my experience.
I wanted to make it as physically challenging as possible and that meant getting involved in the extraction
I don’t believe that fat content or the desire to have ‘drier’ meat are why there is wisdom to hand meat. Would be interested to know more about your views on far and having drier meat?
As a European (or ex one after Brexit) I can assure you everyone I know tips. However, its a tip for excellent work or effort and not inline with US 'norm'.
I also know of outfitters who have 'rest of the world price lists' and 'American price lists'.. I cant tell you how many times I see on...
I did a self drive 14 day tourist trip to Zim 8 years ago and had a great time, exploring the national parks etc. This year was a self drive for 10 days in Namibia. Easily done and very fun.
The bolt stop is on the left, so the damage is caused during cycling. I always depress it when re-inserting the bolt. Ill file away and try to improve the surface and see what happens.
Appreciate the inputs!
Thank you for the response! Having taken the trigger unit out to remove the bolt stop itself, im wondering if the bolt stop itself is the issue. It has wear and now an angle to it. I am thinking the bolt is rising up now and creating downward pressure on the spring to then cause it to be released.
I’m assuming you still intend to use the rifle for UK species? In which case, if you are set on a new rifle then I would go for a .308 but personally I would stick with a .270 and put the funds towards shooting additional animals instead of another rifle.
Hello all,
Hoping to draw on the AH collective wisdom to help me determine the cause and resolution to an issue which occurred with my Heym SR20 this weekend.
When cycling the bolt and pulling back on the bolt to extract the fired cartridge, the bolt has started to occasionally pull out the...
Easily twice the size of that one. Some pics all over the internet of them but some big ones showing here https://www.chilternsporting.com/chinese-water-deer-stalking-rates
Regular stalking throughout the year in the UK for Fallow, Roe, Muntjac and Water Deer. A bit of fly fishing too. An Oct trip to the east cape and hopefully off to Slovenia for Chamois Nov / Dec time.
I don’t know about frowned upon but it would be unusual. .375 is sometimes used on driven wild boar but calibers of that size are not needed for European game.
It takes about 45-60mims to boil and clean a skull. Depending on length of your trip you shouldn’t have issues having that done and taking them back in your luggage
In 2024 I got into fly fishing and caught my first wild brown trout here in the UK. In order to remember and cherish this fish, I contacted Roger Brookes who is an artist who hand carves and paints fish replicas - http://www.rogerbrookes.com/
It is not the biggest fish, in fact its the smallest...
