I also have 9' ceilings. The tall horned kudu, waterbuck, axis, etc are mounted so the tips of their horns are about 6 inches from the ceiling. I like to put their eyes a little above my eye level. The warthog, Nyala, buff and fox are "live" height. In my opinion I like people to see the face...

All done with one hide and still have some left but just enough for a couple of wallets and a belt. The wifes' purse was a medium size bag with dividers. There is a lot of leather on a big bull. Oh and I had the scrotum made into a little bowl, you know to hold nuts.

Same thing happened to me in South Africa. In Qatar I had the spent casings in my checked baggage and ended up in the bowels of the airport being interrogated as the ransacked my luggage breaking numerous souvenirs in the process.

The people that know axis better than me believe he had topped out and I got him right before he started rubbing. I almost passed on him as I didn't know if I wanted one in velvet, never gave it any thought. Boy am I glad I didn't. He measured 34 1/2". Sometimes even a blind hog finds an acorn lol.

Luckily there was a stud available within an inch of where I wanted him so it worked out. That thing is really heavy.

I posted a few months ago" worlds longest buffalo hunt " thread and have now received the mounts of the buff, kudu, and full body warthog. I enjoy looking at everyones' trophy room pics so I hope you will like a few pics from my humble attempt.

I am also wanting to get a pair of boots made from my cape buffalo hide that should be arriving this week. I talked to "Republic" boot company at the Dallas convention, and they seemed to make good boots, but I have no reviews available for you. I am watching this thread to see other ideas.
