I've worked in Manufacturing since graduating college. Wasn't the plan but working out alright. Started as entry level supervisor on night shift and since have worked at multiple companies chasing opportunities to grow to where I am now in management. My parents were blue collar and every...
The organization is always open to donations of course. I can reach out to the north Texas coordinator about sponsoring a specific hunt. Typically the "sponsored" hunts is a company paying for the 5 kids or whichever. If you wanted to look at the schdule of hunts and say "i'll sponsor two kids...
I believe that is indeed TPW hunts and I’ve never been drawn either. TYHP the kids and parents know 1.5 months out usually with plenty of communication from the office as well as the Huntmaster about the hunt.
Texas does have some fantastic draw hunt opportunities. If only I could indeed get drawn…
TYHP hunts don’t work that way unfortunately rookhawk. Were you applying for youth hunt draws with parks and wildlife?
TYHP actually puts hunters who haven’t ever hunted with program at top of list. If a kid signs up this year, they will hunt. After that, it’s more of a random draw in the...
I wanted to take a chance to introduce to all the Texas forum members; the Texas Youth Hunting Program (TYHP). To start, I'll add the blurb from the organizations website:
"The Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) have joined forces to offer youth...
Even a cheap cull hunt can add up lol. Want to say I paid $1100 for critters plus the 400 or so for hunt fees. Tipped $300 I think and guide seemed genuinely happy. Also at that time very different financial situation then I have now. I’ve hunted with Hockham Deer Management on our first...
What about the UK? We’ve hunted there a few times and going back next year. Always tipped ~20% as they are budget/cull hunts but never had reference to what is “expected” there
I have a 60s model that was from my grandfather in 243. It’s very accurate with all types of cheap ammo from big box stores. Only experience I’ve had with the 77 though
Only have one time experience withy ammo pouch. But bought a leather open top for my buff hunt in Australia. I ran it dry twice. Wasn’t as much the danger as it was stopping buff before they got in the thick stuff. In heat of the moment, I wouldn’t of wanted to be messing with a clasp or buckle...
In the states T3x lite is the basic rifle you can buy with synthetic stock and blued barrel. After that you get into custom options for each big box store. Superlite has fluted stainless barrel with different camo patterns depending on store. I just bought a Roughtech which is somewhere between...

Using a cheap micrometer on barrel.
375 is 25.5” long seems to be standards. Maybe 100rnds through it.
30-06 is 23” long seems to be semi-weight. Not sure on round count, bought from member on AH. Bore is very clean though.
I don’t have any real target photos but my wife was shooting 1” groups...
This combo should be perfect setup for hunting anywhere in the world. I’m working on new project/idea so letting this one go.

I’m the friend and definitely can’t do any better story telling than he has.
My wife’s last shots at an animal was in Africa and she didn’t love her accuracy. She’s harder than she should be on herself so I knew this hunt was important. She also was using a 375 which is a big step up from her...
Looking at selling my blaser and moving in different direction. Just never fell in love with it. Looked on gunbroker but knowing what someone is asking dosnt dictate what someone would pay, I’m curious on everyone’s thoughts.
Blaser R8 professional
-decelerator in stock
-375hh barrel, mag...
Not an expert at all, but the Glock I’m confident would be a problem. Revolver should just be paperwork. Every “handgun hunter” I’ve seen pics of has a Thompson center long barrel so I’m curious to see results of this
In my mind now I’m thinking drill small hole in back of bullet, epoxy in string, hang from mount. Wouldn’t call that art but it’s something lol.
Our Australian guide was big on recovering bullets. I think he just liked cutting open animals…
Not sure where to post this so started here...
I have 4 375 bullets from our hunt in australia and cant figure what to do with them... Having a buff shoulder mounted and 2 euros done. My google search didnt pop up any cool ideas. How are you guys displaying used bullets? I know i can pour them...
Good morning,
Supposed to fly out this friday evening for 6 days hunting buffalo in northern territory. I already have the firearms license and associated paperwork complete and in hand but honestly didnt know needed a visa until kind of last minute. 100% my fault but was happy to hear its on...
We used the outfitters rifles. Had sakos and Tikkas with quality glass on them so couldnt go wrong. After we walked through what we did, kind of happy we were using their equipment and made travel easy.
We never signed any rifle paperwork that i can recall. Unless we were supposed to, then yes...
We did Scotland stag last year. Was a beautiful environment and see all kinds of stags running around. I’m about certain my guide was trying to see how long, high, wet of a stalk he could make before I quit. We were wet from second we stepped out of Argo until we changed into new clothes back at...
Looking to sell my 30-06 barrel for Blaser R8. Bought from another member here, shot it a fist full of times to sight in and put back in safe. I personally don’t see any damage on it but not saying it’s 100% brand new. $1200 shipped out of TX
Blaser 1” scope mount(some little marks, tried to...
My backpack gun is a Tikka superlite. Best light gun I’ve ever shot. Unfortunately sold it 6 months ago, but about to buy another. Mine was 30-06 and was my go to hunting rifle for everything. Blind hunted with a can on it and felt zero recoil. Take can off, 12 year old nephew could shoot it no...
This is one of those draws (like sheep) where you hire a local guide. Once in lifetime hunt. I remember an article about a local guide a couple years ago
