    358 Winchester & 9.3x57 Question About Performance

    7x64 cartridge/rifle clue me up

I predict that you will find the 7x64 to your liking and the recoil is modest in my CZ-550 FS. I mostly shoot 139 and sometimes 154/160 grain bullets in mine as I only hunt whitetail deer anymore.

A very nice rifle Wade and I'm sure when you get to shooting it, you'll ask yourself why you didn't get it sooner!:giggle: My experience with the Remington 2 diameter bullets isn't great. Best I could do in my CZ-550 was 6" and over. I pulled the Remington bullets and substituted some Speer 175...

Hornady’s Factory .275 Rigby - Reproduced Load Data

I have a M.98 that will shoot everything from 130 to 175 grains into inch to inch and a half. Deer here are not very heavy and I use 139/140 grain. When I hunted elk, I used 150 Nosler Partition and never recovered one. The 160 should be splendid for all around use.

    Musgrave Brno Mauser 3006?

From what I've been told, Musgrave was a gunmaker located in South Africa. He used M.98 actions early on to build very nice rifles and, I believe, you have one from the Brno factory. I think that later, Musgrave produced their own actions. I'm sure you will get the right information from this...

    Load info for Browning BLR

I have always had good results with H-4895 with 150-165 bullets in the .308. I have had 3 BLRs. Two in .358 Winchester, one from 1980 and one a Lightweight Take Down, and a 7mm08 pistol grip model. I have never had to use small base dies in any rifle! Levers, bolts, single shot, or semi auto.

Advice sought (.358); I think I know the answer...

Buy it or you'll be sorry! The .358 is a fine round that will take care of anything in N. America, Europe, and plains game of Africa. As has been well stated, no need for expensive boutique bullets as the cup and core gets the job done. I use my own cast bullets in 7.62 cases and have never been...

My new K95 is finally here!

One can turn the necks thinner and continue to use them. The tools aren't expensive and the cost can be recouped by using the brass more than once. The brass must be checked at the pressure ring to ensure there's not incipient case separation as the brass flows from the head of the case.

    .270 vs .280

My 7x64 stutzen has the longest throat of any rifles I've ever had but, it is amazingly accurate with bullets from 130 through 175 grains. With the short barrel, I can't get much more velocity over a hot loaded 7x57 but, it's more than ample for anything I put it up against.

    John Talbot Clifton Rigby .275

Most excellent! What a piece of history and to think it was found in a little run down shop. Savage 99

I had a 1947 EG .250-3000 that would shoot 100 grain Speer Hot Core into about an inch and a half and another that would only shoot the 87 grain Speer Hot Core. The 87 grain is made the same as the 100 grain, just shorter by 13 grains, and does fine on deer. I used 4895 for velocities matching...

    Safety Glasses Saved the Day

Glad you're o.k.! Although it's not pleasurable to lose a rifle, it can be replaced, eyes not so much. May I inquire as to how many times that case had been reloaded and was it checked for insipient case head separation?
