I've been shooting an Excalibur for years. Being a recurve they are easy to maintain and you can do all necessary maintenance yourself. No need for a bow press. You will definitely need the crank for a young person to cock the bow but this will be the case with most Xbows.

"OK probably a dumb question...but how do you grind these pads?" It's not as easy as it sounds. It's tricky to get the lines to flow from the stock to the pad correctly. If you don't have any experience, get a gunsmith to do it for you.

I've used Doxy in the past as a malaria preventive. Never had a problem with sunburn. I applied sunscreen in the morning and took my Doxy in the evening. I'm doing a Cape Buffalo hunt next month. I asked my Dr. for Doxy for malaria prevention and some Ambien so I could sleep on the plane...

I used the Barnes 400 Gr. flat nose solids in my 416 Rigby on two Elephants. Worked great with good penetration. Broadside heart/lung shots went completely through the Bulls. Insurance shots in the back while the Elephant was on the ground were also went completely through.

Don't dismiss Cheddite primers if you can find some. I split an order of 5,000 with a buddy and both of us have had good luck with them. No misfires or other problems. I'm about out of mine, and my buddy has already shot all of his. I'll buy more if they become available.

I use the Barnes 270 Gr. TSX in my 375 H&H. It's my do everything load. Will handle anything from a Duiker to a Cape Buffalo. Less recoil than the 300 gr. bullet and shoots tiny groups in my rifle.

I've killed quite a few plains game animals in Africa with my .270 shooting 150 Gr. Nosler Partitions. I even shot an Eland with that combination. That Eland didn't go any further after the shot then the ones I shot with my .338 win. mag or my 375 H&H.
