Great safari and good for you taking your experienced buddy along! I bet you made him a very happy man. Good advice for all of us. Sometimes the trophy is not at the skinning shed but with the mates you bring along
I have a Blaser R8 with a factory 20.5” 375 H&H barrel and I love it. Lose very little fps with my swift A frames at 2500 fls and it’s a joy to carry in the bush. Took a last day eland at 250 yds ( just the way it worked out ) with one shot. Unfortunately they don’t offer this barrel any longer
Been through this also. One of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. Best of luck and just focus on all the great times you’ve had together and hope for more to come
If you’re looking for a lower power scope I have the exact scope in 1-6x24 that I would trade you. Mounted but never hunted. Pm me if you would like to discuss further
Welcome to the forum. You have a lot of supporters here. Great talking to you yesterday and congratulations on obtaining the entire quota for Nyakasanga. Can’t wait to hunt with you there in 2026.
I’ve completed the big 5 dangerous 7 with two leopards, two elephants, 7 buffalo and one lion, rhino, hippo and crocodile. If you plan carefully and shop wisely with a lot of our sponsors you can do this cost effectively. Especially if you compare it to a guided moose or brown bear hunt. You can...
Just there in September. Have the paperwork filled out prior to arrival. Be patient ( which I am not). The cartridge counting was maddening. I had 30:06 and 375 cartridges. I had shot two 30:06 cartridges while in SA before traveling to Harare and that caused a major disruption! After it was...
It’s not a big deal but I was in the fly camp late September’24 and there was no internet service. I did try to use Keith’s hotspot from his phone but very spotty. The good news was the main
Camp, which was a couple hundred yards away had starlink so if necessary you could make contact.
hi veritas
Do you get by this store often? Was wondering if you could check this gun out next time you’re there. Seems like a very good price- maybe too good. Thanks
I hunted with CMS in late September of 2024 in the Nyakasanga Safari area. Working with Buzz and his team was very easy and all communication was prompt and precise. My PH was Keith Wall and he and his team were excellent. The camp is old school Africa on the banks of the Zambezi and the food...
Delta comfort plus bulkhead aisle $2250 refundable for Sept 6-18. When I first started looking in Dec premium select was $3200. When I finalized my safari dates it had jumped to $6000 . Totally crazy. I have flight tracker turned on.
Buy the 375 barrel and go hunting. I took my 375 and 3006 to SA and Zimbabwe in September and just used the 375 for buff, eland (250yds) , croc(13.5’) kudu and Grysbok (solid). After verifying the 06 it stayed in the case. I have mine set up with the Swaro Z8 and it’s perfect for just about...
Always stay at the Sky. Gilbert is the man. I have him in my contacts and no matter the complexity of your travel plans or issues that come up he just takes care of it. Reassuring to have someone like that in your corner. The staff and rooms and food are great also
The only issue I have with my two R8’s is constantly buying more barrels. I just returned from Nyakasanga and my 20.5” factory 375 barrel was a joy to carry and shoot.
Thanks for the reply. I respect your opinion. Sounds like you would definitely go back.I contacted them and they responded immediately. The only issue for me is the sliding scale for buff. Not a fan of that so I will have to question that further. Thanks for your response and the superb hunt report.
Great report and hunt. You’ve hunted many places in Africa- how would you rate this outfitter and location for buffalo and plains game? Would you go back? Thank you
I’m sitting in the STL airport heading to Atlanta and on to JNB to hunt Nyakasanga with Keith. Sounds like you had a terrific adventure and took some great trophies. Glad you saved that Eland for me!!
How hot was it?? Hope you recover from your incident. I’ll keep you posted
Do you need to take the batteries out of your scopes while checking in with rifle on international trips?
If so do they go in checked bag or carry on? First time traveling with red dot scopes
Thanks
