You are entering a foreign country, don’t add any self inflicted issues that may cause you emotional trauma. Keep it simple, clean and to the book. I can tell you TSA has ammo rules, SA has ammo rules and if you have a layover in another country they have ammo rules and so does the airline...
I have a Tanaka for about 16 years and that saw is a beast and never fails me. Good cutting chain makes a good saw. Cutting wood can be therapeutic at times.
I like the Nosler Accubond 210 in a 300 mag load. My setup just seems a little more consistent with that combination. I like a little more weight for African game. Not a big difference under 300 yards. Most my African shots 75-200 yards.
Bought a very nice over under from @CrippledEagle. Great communication and shotgun was as advertised. Seller was a big help with shipping and packaging. 2nd purchase from @CrippledEagle, great seller to deal with.
Nike, Costco…at the moment but the list has grown to a point I cannot remember them all. Bud Light, NFL, NBA….got to stop before I go on real rant… NASCAR….
Yep, things have changed for the worse. Even this side of the border between Freer and Laredo with all the LEO activity, will make you pay attention to what is around you, and they are not looking for folks speeding. On the lease we all lock our trucks and don’t leave the keys in the ranch...
My old 270 tang safety model, early 70s, is very picky on ammo type and if shot more than a handful of times without a total cooldown starts to wander quite a bit. If I had to build one up my personal choice is a Remington 700 donor action vs a Ruger to start.
I would not want to be exposed in a ladder or lock on type set up. The monkeys will pick you off and scream all the way home. Most NA animals don’t usually look up but not sure on plains game since there are more options for them to get eaten.
Three things I tell my kids:
Everyone has a plan to get your money from taxes to groceries. You need a plan on how to keep as much as you can.
Most successful people are not the smartest in the room but the best at managing relationships with others.
You can’t name your dog Stay. Lots of...
Remington 700 Sendero, 300 RUM, 180 grain bonded bullet, about 175 yards off short sticks sitting, about 3’ in length. I like the short sticks in country where you can use them. Sit down, lock in that right elbow, makes a solid platform.
I like my snake boots in that country where the grass is usually knee high. I had to dig into and old drive for this pic I use in my avatar from 2007 of the best Nilgai I have taken. They are fun to hunt on the King Ranch or the surrounding properties. The nilgai have migrated west of hwy 77...
Shot them with 300 RUM and 375 HH both ended up down. The 375 did not exit, between hide thickness and heavy bone dense muscle. Vitals low and up front. I have always stalked in so there is a bit of time to set up the shot, not a fan of the vehicle type hunt. Hope the wind is up and walk...
Saw it online so must be true of another cat hit outside Uvalde in the last few days weighing in at 210. Those cats in the hill country area have a lot of easy food and can pack on some weight. Never seen one in person but have seen tracks between Freer and Laredo as well as tracks SW of...
Aero precision makes a lefty, I am sure there are others. Best part of all is all that AR platform is that it is all interchangeable. I have had good luck with Palmetto products. My 6.8SPC is a 20” Palmetto upper. Surf the forums, I bet there fans of the round you rant that go way down the...
I have not but that is a great cartridge. I would not hesitate to take that for all the plains game animals. Bullet choice is a critical decision no ballistic tip bullets. Let that dog bark!
Couple extra bumps on the brows. Yes, lucky as they are just starting to rut and got him before he got all broken up. Those brows would be the first to go. I think he did jump the string a bit at 20 yards. I was thinking after the shot I hit the last few deer high, need to start shooting at...
Seen a few of those timber rattlers or cane break rattlers as they are known. Bad boys with nuro and hemo toxin. The ones I have come up on are not very aggressive but large snakes. Western diamondbacks down south Texas seem a lot more aggressive in my opinion. Fire is a good option for both...
Hunted with Lalamanzi, Limpopo on the river. Abri the owner has some alfalfa fields those sneaky jokers like to frequent in the dark hours. The fields are fenced in an attempt to keep the animals out and from eating it down but the warthogs, bushbuck, steenbok still work under the edge. They...
