Bullets that well advertised but were not that great

I don't hunt with them but several PH's in Mozambique (last Sept) tell me they have seen this type of failure.

Bullets that well advertised but were not that great

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....talks. I've been told that the new bonded ones in many cases pancake and don't penetrate properly. Meaning they stay together but over expand.

    Binos for Africa

Pre retirement I spent most of my time working on a computer. With that my eyes just always seemed tired and strained. However, when I picked up the Zeiss Victory it was and is like there is no glass between me and the image. I guess this is what we should all hope for if we are going to...

    Binos for Africa

I bought my Zeiss Victory 8x32 24 years ago like that. Best purchase I've ever made! Many many many hours looking through them and see no reason to trade up still today cuz they work for my eyes. Have fun shopping!

    Binos for Africa

I always felt one should go to a big box store (Cabelas). - Pick each pair up and look through them and focus them. - Put them down. - Pick them up once again and look. If you don't feel your eyes strain to focus you are off to a good start. - If your eyes strain when the...

    Colt 1911, market scouting

I'm partial to my Nighthawks. I've owned many different pistols over the years. Nighthawks are in a league all their own. Below is one that I own. They all shoot lights out and cycle perfectly with all ammo. One Gun One Gunsmith really works. And they hold thier value!

    Let's See Some Hunting Knives

Beautiful! Lets see you I bought that knife around 20 years ago from a Gent that did online auctions. I've tried to track him down for years but can't find him online. The knife holds a good edge, sharpness well and is not wearing down from all the sharpening I've done.

    Lets See Your Upland Shotguns

Understandably this forum focuses on rifles. I can say when I was in Mozambique last September I dreamed of having a few free mornings and sitting at a waterhole for Doves, Pigeons & Parrots. I think I could have shot a few hundred rounds everyday for the morning flight! I've hunted all...

    Shoulder Bump questions

Question: - I'm neck sizing 6.5 PRC Lapua Brass. (Never full length sized and only fired in this rifle). - Cases are fired around 5 times. - OAL is trimmed to minimum. - The diie is set just off of the shell holder (I can see daylight when ram is at top of resizing...

Opinions on the real big boys? 500J, 505 Gibbs, .500 NE, 577NE, 600NE, 700NE etc.

Thanks a lot of fast hard recoil! But I wouldn't want to be on the other end either....

Opinions on the real big boys? 500J, 505 Gibbs, .500 NE, 577NE, 600NE, 700NE etc.

I don't think I would have the determination or courage to shoot any 570 Grain bullet at a velocity about 2150 fps.

Opinions on the real big boys? 500J, 505 Gibbs, .500 NE, 577NE, 600NE, 700NE etc.

I always wear a recoil pad when I shoot anything from 416 through 500. So far, no bruising.

    Ruger Safari Magnum 416 Rigby

Respectfully tell me if I'm wrong here. You should feed a round from magazine to chamber in order to not risk breaking the extractor. If I'm correct when the gun is loaded it is 2 +1 in the 416 Rigby caliber. Last, I own this gun. They are shooters for sure! Very accurate, feed smoothly...

Bullets that well advertised but were not that great

Bryce, What are your thoughts on Berger Elite Hunter 6.5 mm 156 grains fired at 3100 fps for Red Stag from 100 to 400 yards? 400 is my max and I suspect I could have opportunities in the 100-200 range when I'm hunting Scotland this Sept. I have tags for 3 Stag, 1 Sika & 1 Roe deer. Note: I...

Bullets that well advertised but were not that great

I have been working up a load for my 6.5 PRC (New to me rifle) with Berger Elite Hunter 156 grain for Red Stage, Sika Stag & Roe Deer this fall in Scotland. In your experience, am I going to get into trouble on shots say under 200 yards that these bullets might not hold together? Berger...

Bullets that well advertised but were not that great

Weatherby has been manufacturing factory ammo with Hornady bullets for as long as I can remember. For two simple reasons. They shoot well and they kill game! Congrats on all your success with Hornady! They are the foundation of a lot of shooting that I do from 22-250 Rem to 500 NE.
